As a Security Officer - Shelter After-Hours Rounds in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will complete routine patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to concerns with professionalism. You will support residents, visitors, and staff through clear communication, timely reporting, and a calm, service-focused approach. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to residents, staff, and visitors by following site-specific procedures, access protocols, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents, disputes, medical calls, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to site leadership and/or public emergency services as required.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of common areas, sleeping areas as permitted, entrances, stairwells, and perimeter areas to help to deter policy violations, trespassing, and unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor and document activity using patrol logs, incident reports, and available security-related systems such as cameras and radios, maintaining clear communication with the site team.
  • Support orderly movement within the location by guiding residents and visitors, reinforcing posted rules, and assisting with evacuations, room checks as assigned, and/or other site-specific duties.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of security experience is required.
  • Proof of a high school diploma or GED is required.
  • You must be 21 years of age or older.
  • The ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
