Senior Applications Engineer
Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises is looking for a Senior Applications Engineer to support our corporate office in Virginia Beach, VA.
- This opportunity has the option to be hybrid/remote.
Job Description:
- The Senior Application Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for evaluating, integrating, and automating enterprise business systems. This position bridges the gap between business application owners and IT Services by translating business needs into scalable, secure technical solutions.
- The role focuses on eliminating manual processes, resolving data inconsistencies, and designing and building system integrations that establish trusted, authoritative data sources across the organization. The Senior Application Engineer will actively contribute to the planning, implementation, and support of future AI-enabled business initiatives, ensuring enterprise applications and data are structured, integrated, and accessible to support those efforts.
- This role works closely with IT Services, business stakeholders, and project management to modernize application workflows while ensuring all solutions align with infrastructure, security, and compliance requirements. The Senior Application Engineer will also help establish standards and best practices for application integration and support the growth of this function over time.
Qualifications:
- Must have a bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and at least 10 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have senior-level experience serving as a technical subject matter expert for enterprise business applications and system integrations.
- Must have hands-on experience integrating or supporting enterprise systems such as ERP, HRIS, CRM, and/or identity platforms.
- Must demonstrate experience designing and implementing system integrations using APIs, data models, and automation tools.
- Must demonstrate the ability to design and implement automated workflows that reduce manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Must demonstrate the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of complex, cross-functional initiatives.
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint, Paycor, and Microsoft 365 / Active Directory is preferred.
- Experience working with data integration platforms, workflow orchestration tools, or enterprise automation frameworks preferred.
- Experience supporting enterprise reporting or analytics teams by delivering structured, authoritative data, preferred.
- Exposure to or participation in initiatives involving advanced analytics or AI-enabled business processes, preferred.
- Experience helping establish, mature, or scale a new technical capability or function, preferred.
Security Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal Travel; 10% or less.
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
- Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds

Pay Range: $130,000 - $180,000 per year
