Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the oversight, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company's ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS). This role ensures compliance with applicable quality standards, supports internal and external audits, and drives corrective actions and continuous improvement across the organization. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Own, maintain, and improve the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System

  • Serve as the primary interface with external auditors and certification bodies

  • Plan, conduct, and document internal audits

  • Prepare for and support ISO certification, surveillance, and recertification audits

  • Manage nonconformances, corrective actions, and preventive actions (CAPA)

  • Lead root cause analysis and verify effectiveness of corrective actions

  • Maintain control of QMS documentation and quality records

  • Coordinate and lead Management Review meetings

  • Track, analyze, and report quality metrics and KPIs

  • Support risk-based thinking and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Train employees on QMS requirements and quality processes

  • Support customer, supplier, and internal quality issues as required

Required Quals

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Business, or related field
    (or equivalent experience)

  • 5+ years experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Management

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining an ISO 9001-certified QMS

  • Experience supporting external ISO audits

  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification (or ability to obtain)

  • Strong working knowledge of: CAPA systems, Root cause analysis methodologies, Document control and change management

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a U.S. Secret security clearance, or currently possess an active clearance

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Quals

  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification

  • ASQ certifications (CQA, CQE, Six Sigma)

  • Experience with electronic QMS systems

  • Experience in a manufacturing, defense, or regulated environment

  • Experience with additional standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 13485)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of ISO 9001:2015

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Practical, solutions-oriented approach to quality management

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Occasional travel as required for audits or training

  • Hybrid Remote

Typically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) and 6+ years of related experience.
May be required to maintain security clearance

Expected Compensation: The expected compensation range for this role is

$123,968.00 - $185,952.00

Ultra Maritime considers multiple factors when determining final compensation, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, a candidate's relevant experience and education, certifications and training, as well as current business and market conditions.
