General Purpose

The Loan Assistant, under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, provides administrative support to lenders and loan officers in gathering information required for Consumer and Commercial Loan Applications. An intermediate level position having extensive contact with customers and the public both in person and on the telephone.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Acts a liaison between location officers and back office lending personnel, including booking new loans and renewals.
  • Follows discussion with loan officers, communicates as appropriate with customer and gathers all necessary information and documentation for new loan requests, renewals and modifications.
  • Prepares the weekly past due, overdraft and maturing loan lists and assists in the collection of past due loans.
  • Analyzes and prepares consumer loan packets under $100,000 and manages the process.
  • Provides administrative assistance to commercial, consumer and branch loan officers.
  • Responsible for the content of and maintaining supplies of loan application packages at the direction of the bank's Compliance Department.
  • Prepares appropriate loan disbursement entries (cashier's checks, deposit, wire transfer etc.) on signing date, according to loan disbursement instructions provided by Loan Processor.
  • Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required as a essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Duties



  • May assist with opening and closing the branch.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:



  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and the ability to provide courteous, knowledgeable and professional customer service, both in person and on the telephone, while independently consulting with the Bank's customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of administrative and secretarial skills, including composing proper business correspondence (letters and electronic mail) to internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of general banking policies /procedures, including an understanding and application of banking compliance regulations.
  • Intermediate-level mathematical skills and keyboard navigation.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, exercise good judgement and make and act upon decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including but not limited to) Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Notary Public is a plus.


Education or Formal Training:



  • An Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school, or knowledge typically gained through a minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in a high demand, multi-tasked professional administrative or secretarial position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Drivers' License, required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid NMLS License, required.


Experience:



  • Previous bank lending experience is a plus.
  • Customer Service Representative experience is preferred.


Working Conditions

Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment, that may include prolonged periods of standing and/or sitting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and multifunction printers. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment is necessary. May include some weekend and evening hours. Routine travel to meet with remote staff, regional leadership, vendors, and other internal banking departments is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required; it would require the ability to reach for and lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.
