Qualifications

Education and Experience: Completion of high school or its equivalent, along with four years of responsible full-time professional experience in fields such as law enforcement, safety inspection, compliance, or business management.

Necessary Special Qualifications: Possess and maintain a valid vehicle operator's license during employment.

Overview

Under general supervision, takes charge of consultation tasks related to Amusement Ride Devices, involving work of moderate complexity, and carries out associated duties as necessary. This is the entry-level position within the Amusement Device Safety Consultant series. Individuals in this role handle consultation and compliance tasks related to amusement ride devices, ensuring adherence to state regulations. Unlike the Amusement Device Manager role, which involves supervisory responsibilities, this position focuses on independent compliance work.

Responsibilities

1. Engage with approved certifying agencies to verify the qualifications of third-party inspectors and ensure the accuracy and completeness of required documentation.
2. Explain state laws and program regulations to device owners/operators/municipalities when necessary.
3. Collect and review amusement device documentation to verify compliance with state laws and program requirements and identify amusement device companies that fail to comply with legal requirements by utilizing resources such as the online 'Tip Line,' conducting online searches, and observing newly established businesses in the area and notify owners/operators of non-compliance and indicate the severity of violations.
4. Conduct on-site visits in response to accidents or situations of non-compliance and perform research within the designated area to locate non-compliant amusement device companies.
5. Maintain a thorough understanding of laws and regulations governing the operation of amusement devices and their impact on public safety and assess the compliance status of owners/operators by researching state websites, assigned territories, and other resources. Determine whether 'reportable' accidents fall under categories such as serious incidents, physical injuries, or fatalities.
6. Maintain, scan, and submit program-related documents, statistics, and activities to supervision weekly. Participate in staff meetings, conferences, training sessions, and seminars.
7. Verify data received from external sources for accuracy.
8. Address complaints, resolve disputes, and negotiate with internal and external parties when required, and properly communicate with supervision.
9. All other duties as required.

TN Driver Standards

State of Tennessee positions that may involve driving responsibilities require candidates to meet the following minimum driver qualifications:
