Position Purpose

This Washington, D.C.-based position is responsible for tracking and analyzing U.S. federal legislation, regulation and policy initiatives of interest to global manufacturing sectors; developing and maintaining knowledge of U.S. federal agencies, trade associations, Congressional staff and other contacts; and communicating and collaborating with staff colleagues and consultants on regulatory and policy issues.

Responsibilities

  • Identity Federal agency representatives, trade association/industry representatives, Congressional staff, and other key contacts stakeholders through interactions and value-adding engagements.
  • Research and support opportunities for public/private collaborations and new standards development activities by investigating industry trends, tracking Federal research initiatives, and reviewing emerging regulatory and legislative initiatives.
  • Prepare meeting materials and presentations and support regulatory engagements.
  • Promote corporate capabilities to wide ranging audiences in a professional manner.
  • Interface regularly with staff of other divisions, including but not limited to Technical Committee Operations and Business Development, to promote coordination and to ensure integration of strategies with technical committees and other initiatives.
  • Establish good communication and relationships with all departments at headquarters and offices worldwide.
  • Perform office management/administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Have and be able to clearly articulate an understanding of organizational mission, strategic issues, and operations - including government & global standards issues.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to develop firm understanding of organizational policies, regulations and operations

Preferred Qualifications & Competencies

  • Master's degree
  • Experience dealing with government agencies, Congressional staff, industry and associations
  • Self-motivated and dynamic work ethic
