Position Summary

The Executive Vice President, Practice Operations provides enterprise-level leadership for the operational strategy, performance, and growth of a large, multi-state oncology practice network. This executive leader is responsible for overseeing the operational performance of a complex ambulatory oncology delivery platform encompassing medical oncology, hematology, infusion services, radiation oncology, advanced diagnostics, and ancillary oncology services across numerous markets, clinics, and sites of care.

Reporting to the President, Network Operations, the Executive Vice President serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and is accountable for translating corporate strategy into scalable operational models that support sustainable growth, superior patient outcomes, and exceptional patient experience. The role oversees a large network of oncology clinics and operational leaders responsible for delivering care across a geographically distributed platform generating significant annual revenue.

The EVP partners closely with physician leadership, clinical executives, finance, revenue cycle, strategy, and corporate shared services to ensure operational excellence, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all practice operations. This role plays a critical leadership function in practice expansion, mergers and acquisitions, care model transformation, and enterprise integration initiatives.

Key Performance Areas

KPA 1. Enterprise Practice Operations Strategy & Performance

* Provide executive oversight for oncology practice operations across a large multi-state network of clinics, infusion centers, and ancillary service locations.

* Translate enterprise strategy into operational models that drive scalable, high-performing ambulatory oncology services.

* Establish system-wide operational standards, performance metrics, and accountability frameworks across all practice locations.

* Monitor enterprise operational KPIs including access, throughput, patient experience, staffing productivity, capacity utilization, and care delivery efficiency.

* Lead regional and market operational leaders responsible for day-to-day practice management across the network.

* Identify opportunities to optimize workflows, care coordination, and service delivery across the organization.

KPA 2. Enterprise Financial Performance & Revenue Growth

* Maintain executive accountability for operational performance supporting a large oncology practice enterprise generating substantial annual revenue.

* Partner with the CFO and finance leadership to develop long-term financial strategies, operational budgets, and capital investment plans.

* Drive performance improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, reduce operational cost, and improve margin performance across clinics.

* Oversee operational alignment with revenue cycle management to ensure optimal billing, coding, reimbursement, and collections performance.

* Evaluate operational infrastructure and staffing models to support volume growth while maintaining cost discipline.

* Support development of new service lines, clinical programs, and revenue-generating care models.

KPA 3. Physician Partnership & Clinical Integration

* Serve as a strategic executive partner to physician leaders, medical directors, and clinical executives across the organization.

* Ensure operational infrastructure supports evidence-based oncology care delivery, clinical quality standards, and patient-centered care models.

* Collaborate with physician leadership on strategic initiatives related to practice growth, provider recruitment, and care model innovation.

* Facilitate alignment between clinical priorities and operational execution across the enterprise.

* Support physician engagement through collaborative governance structures and transparent performance reporting.

KPA 4. Organizational Growth, Market Expansion & Integration

* Lead operational strategy for practice growth, including new clinic development, market expansion, and service line growth.

* Partner with corporate development and executive leadership on mergers, acquisitions, and practice affiliations.

* Oversee operational integration of acquired practices into the enterprise platform.

* Ensure operational scalability to support rapid organizational growth across multiple markets.

* Evaluate new care delivery models, technologies, and operational innovations that improve access, efficiency, and patient outcomes.

KPA 5. Quality, Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

* Ensure enterprise-wide compliance with federal, state, and regulatory requirements governing oncology and infusion services.

* Oversee operational alignment with accreditation programs, oncology quality initiatives, and regulatory standards.

* Promote a culture of patient safety, clinical quality, and continuous improvement across all sites of care.

* Partner with compliance and risk management leadership to proactively address operational risk and regulatory requirements.

KPA 6. Executive Leadership & Talent Development

* Provide executive leadership and development for a team of regional vice presidents, directors, and practice administrators across the organization.

* Build leadership infrastructure capable of supporting a large, multi-market oncology practice platform.

* Drive workforce planning strategies to support organizational growth and operational excellence.

* Foster a high-performance leadership culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and patient-centered care.

* Partner with Human Resources to develop leadership pipelines, succession planning, and organizational capability.

KPA 7. Enterprise Transformation & Strategic Initiatives

* Lead large-scale operational initiatives including technology implementation, workflow redesign, and care model transformation.

* Drive enterprise adoption of operational best practices, data-driven performance management, and continuous improvement methodologies.

* Provide executive operational insights to the CEO and Board regarding performance trends, operational risks, and growth opportunities.

* Support long-term organizational strategy through operational innovation and scalable infrastructure development.

Position Qualifications

Education

  • Master's degree required or equivalent experience (MBA, MHA, MPH, or equivalent).

  • Doctoral or advanced executive education in healthcare administration, business, or clinical leadership preferred.

Minimum Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive healthcare leadership experience in a complex healthcare delivery system.

  • Experience in private practice or large group practices is strongly preferred.

  • At least 10 years of executive-level leadership responsibility overseeing large multi-site ambulatory networks, specialty physician practices, or oncology service lines.

  • Direct oversight of a managementlevel team of 10+ FTEs.

  • Experience overseeing revenues in excess of $100M.

  • Demonstrated success leading large operational organizations with significant revenue responsibility and geographically distributed teams.

  • Experience supporting physician-led governance models and clinically integrated care delivery systems.

  • Experience leading operational integration for mergers, acquisitions, or rapid organizational growth strongly preferred

Skills

  • Strong understanding of oncology practice operations, infusion services, and ambulatory care workflows.

  • Proven ability to lead through influence and partnership rather than direct authority.

  • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, productivity models, and operational KPIs.

  • Excellent communication, change management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented healthcare organization.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Professional certifications such as FACHE, CMPE, or equivalent healthcare leadership credential preferred.
