Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Assistant Director for the Perioperative Support Services Department at the New Brunswick campus

The Assistant Director will serve as the day-to-day lead of the perioperative business office and have oversight over all financial and analytical operations for the service line.

This will include operational and capital budgeting, business plan development, strategic planning and forecasting, accountability for all analytical and departmental KPI.

Supervises and manages the OR Scheduling office which includes Adult Operating Room, Pediatric Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Center and Endoscopy. They will also reviews schedules for accuracy and completeness across all procedural areas.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • General knowledge of hospital procedures, medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Prior Perioperative Business Operations experience required.
  • Five or more years of business related to healthcare required.

Preferred:

  • MBA highly preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Days 40 hours per week
  • Full-Time

Essential Functions:

  • Financial Management: Participate in annual and capital budget process. Prepare monthly budget reports and speak to variances. Supports VP,
  • Directors and Managers in understanding and utilizing financial reports/budgets. Creates business plans to evaluate the profitability of new procedures/service line growth for perioperative services. Effectively allocate and schedule resources to maximize efficiency and productivity for assigned areas/departments.
  • Management of Information: Create reports designed to monitor OR operations such as block time, TAT, on time starts, financials, etc. Design and administer all information systems for perioperative services. Develop and administer tools to assist OR managers in the effective management of their areas. Oversight on EPIC analytics for perioperative services. Support all projects and initiatives as assigned by VP throughout the service which will be inclusive of project assessment, development, creation and analysis of supporting data, and project support.
  • Operations: Provide efficient, accurate and effective processes. Ensures all areas of responsibility are in compliance with regulatory requirements. Effectively communicates with management regarding department operations and supply, equipment and billing issues.
  • Continuously assess and improve the division's performance utilizing Lean initiatives. Ensures contracts are maintained and appropriate to meet the needs of the service.
  • Collaboration: Works with VP, Chief of Surgery, Chief of Anesthesia, and Perioperative service directors to develop and implement a service strategy and to develop and achieve fiscally responsible operational performance. Works collaboratively with materials management staff.
  • Resolves conflicts effectively
  • Communication: Communicates effectively through timely, comprehensive data analyses and presentations to diverse audiences, including physicians, nurses and other clinical staff. Produces reporting mechanisms for executive dashboards of key indicators. Educates leadership and staff about Decision Support enabling them to become independent in data reporting and analysis as appropriate.
