*Accounts Payable Specialist* Are you detail-driven, organized, and energized by keeping financial operations running smoothly? We're looking for a dependable *Accounts Payable Specialist* to own and manage the full-cycle accounts payable process. In this role, you'll be a key partner to vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams-ensuring accurate payments, clean records, and strong relationships that support our business every day.
*What You'll Do (Essential Functions)* *Accounts Payable Operations* * Set up, maintain, and audit vendor master files. * Process a high volume of vendor and subcontractor invoices with speed, accuracy, and attention to approval workflows. * Verify trade contractor approvals prior to payment and ensure compliance with internal controls. * Prepare check runs, match invoices to checks, process for signatures, and handle timely distribution. * Enter manual checks and job cost (JC) entries related to accounts payable. *Vendor & Purchasing Support* * Manage online accounts with vendors such as Home Depot and Lowe's. * Issue purchasing cards and coordinate with appropriate personnel. * Reconcile vendor statements and proactively resolve discrepancies by working directly with vendors via phone or in person. * Maintain positive, professional vendor relationships. *Reconciliation, Reporting & Compliance* * Perform monthly accounts payable reconciliations and support month-end close. * Issue, track, and reconcile purchase order (PO) books to invoices. * Generate commission and other ad-hoc financial reports as needed. *Cash Handling & Payroll Support* * Prepare daily deposits and organize/coding checks for entry. * Provide weekly payroll backup and support as required. *What You Bring (Skills & Qualifications)* *Technical & Analytical Skills* * Solid understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles. * Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail-numbers are your strength. * Proficiency with AP software, computers, and word processing tools. * Comfortable using a 10-key calculator and performing advanced mathematical calculations, including interest. * Ability to check, compare, and validate numerical data with a high degree of precision. *Professional & Interpersonal Skills* * Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment. * Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with vendors, coworkers, and the public. * High level of discretion and integrity when handling sensitive financial information. * Team-oriented mindset with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. * Confident using office phones and handling frequent internal and external contacts. *Job Type & Location* This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
