THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Purchasing Agent, you will perform independent technical and administrative work to procure the supplies, materials, and services vital to the center's operations. This role involves preparing service contracts, managing price quotations, and processing vendor bids while utilizing computer systems to handle funding adjustments and mandated reports. You will be responsible for ensuring all activities strictly comply with the procurement guidelines set by the Department of General Services and the Department of Human Services. In addition to securing competitive pricing for non-contract items, you will verify and distribute critical documentation to the Comptroller's Office, the Treasury Department, and internal stakeholders. You will also manage the local bidding process, from preparing invitations for bid proposals to finalizing awards, all while following established procedures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
