About the Role

As a Senior Product Owner and member of the Pharmacy Value Stream, you will be responsible for defining and prioritizing the team's work to streamline the delivery of business value. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, business stakeholders, and development teams to translate epic-level vision into actionable features and user stories. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of pharmacy business operations, agile methodologies, and a passion for mentoring others and driving continuous improvement. You will also have experience managing product roadmaps supporting the intake and prioritization of requests from multiple stakeholders. You will be the voice of the customer, ensuring that the development team understands the requirements and delivers high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our members and business partners.

This role is eligible for our Flex Persona. For candidates local to our Hingham MA offices.

Your Day to Day:

  • Collaborates with Product Management and Business Stakeholders to understand initiative and epic vision.
  • Defines and manages feature backlogs in support of initiative vision, decomposing epics into features and prioritizing them appropriately.
  • Understands BCBSMA and Initiative strategy to develop and support feature-level objectives and acceptance criteria.
  • Understands Enterprise Technology & Corporate Portfolio Funding mechanism to best align features and provide updates on sizing as needed.
  • Supports development of epic-level leading & lagging indicators to track initiative success.
  • Accountable for the prioritization of user story and feature level backlogs for value stream epics.
  • Collaborates with the team to develop user stories with clearly documented requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • As the "Voice of the Customer", supports ongoing review and elaboration of features with business stakeholders.
  • Drives story refinement sessions, documents and communicates requirements to the project and implementation teams, helps with design decisions, and coordinates delivery of dependencies.
  • Accountable for securing formal approval of all requirements from the appropriate business and technology stakeholders.
  • Participates in and supports all Agile ceremonies (Iteration Planning, Daily Scrum, Iteration Review, Iteration Retrospective).
  • Responsible for accepting user stories and features as "done" and ensuring all acceptance criteria are met.
  • Runs epic assessments, including documenting scope, success metrics, leading and lagging indicators, and funding/budget forecasts.
  • Mentors other product owners and business systems analysts on backlog prioritization, user story elaboration, and decomposition techniques.
  • Demonstrates deep knowledge of Pharmacy's business and associated applications.

  • Support the implementation and operationalization of a culture of accountability.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, or a similar role in an agile environment.
  • Healthcare, pharmacy benefits management (PBM), or health insurance industry experience is required.
  • Proven experience in defining and managing backlogs, decomposing epics into features, and writing clear, concise user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe) and the product owner role.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a "Minimum Viable Product" mindset.

Experience mentoring and coaching team members.

LocationHingham Time TypeFull time Salary Range: $111,150.00 - $135,850.00

The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.

This job is also eligible for variable pay.
