Job Summary

The Enterprise Data Governance and Quality (EDG) team is part of the Data Innovation Office within Enterprise Data and Analytics organization (EDNA). Our mission is to implement an enterprise model for the governance of data at Equinix and to elevate data as a critical asset. To build trust in data through standardized practices across global programs and lines of businesses, we are seeking a Senior Manager of Enterprise Data Stewardship to lead our data stewardship practice and support global programs to improve and mature their data governance practice and capabilities. This role promotes data as a strategic asset for Equinix and plays a critical role in working alongside cross-functional teams to define data governance program objectives, implement required standards, and establish program metrics that achieve business objectives and data governance requirements.

Success in this role requires excellent communication skills with an emphasis on empathy and interaction with senior business and technology partners across the globe. This role will collaborate closely with stakeholders across lines of business, corporate functions, and partner teams (Legal, AI, InfoSec) to federate consistent Data Governance practices across global programs. To be successful in this role, the candidate would require a balance of functional and/or product-centric expertise, a deep knowledge of practical data governance business practices, and experience in building and leading data teams.

Responsibilities


  • Establish and maintain a robust Enterprise Data Stewardship operating model, ensuring that program teams understand requirements of the Enterprise Data Governance policy, effectively implement required standards, and successfully combine people, processes, and tooling to govern critical data at Equinix

  • Lead engagement with leaders across Equinix, serving as the face of the Equinix Data Governance Team, to ensure their success in implementing data governance best practices

  • Own the Enterprise business glossary, data catalog certification, and change management processes and workflows while elaborating data quality rules and scorecards as business needs change

  • Lead Core Data Stewardship practice so that program teams have front-line operational support necessary to manage high-quality data through standardized, architected, and governed processes across value streams

  • Collaborate across business units and data domain owners to negotiate, identify, and assign business data stewards responsible for data quality, data classification, and data lifecycle management

  • Establish repeatable processes across functional stewardship teams to ensure data remains fit for usage and that quality issues are managed to acceptable service levels with clear remediation processes; expand proactive DQ monitoring of critical data wherever possible

  • Work closely with Application, Infosec and Legal teams to ensure data privacy and security measures are in place, including data access controls, data classification, and data retention policies

  • Develop and deliver enterprise educational programs and awareness campaigns to promote data governance best practices, ensure data literacy, and assist in driving new opportunities for data democratization across the organization

  • Design, implement, and administer data governance tools (Data Catalog and DQ Dashboards) alongside business data owners, stewardship and engineering teams

  • Drive program assessments for Enterprise Data Governance effectiveness and establish maturity metrics to drive continuous improvement

  • Establish and lead cross-functional data governance forums, risk panels, and working-groups with regular cadence for purposeful and efficient decision making

  • Engage with strategic planning to provide direction, guidance, and recommendations on technology, data modeling, and architectural considerations


People Leadership


  • Manage the team's performance by motivating, developing and coaching

  • Drive the people development strategy, including enhancement of capabilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance for escalations to other strategy and insights / cross-functional stakeholders

  • Challenge existing managed processes based on industry best practice and trends to ensure Equinix is maintaining a best-in-class approach

  • Model the Equinix culture, Transformational Leadership behaviors and Magic of Equinix values


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Management, Engineering or a related field

  • 4+ years of experience in data management, governance, analytics, or related field

  • Experience in data compliance, security and best practice

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven track record of building strong relationships with business stakeholders

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional stakeholders across Sales, Finance, IT, Engineering, and Operations

  • Dynamic, forward-thinking leader with a bias for action, rapid experimentation, and ability to break down complex problems and deliver solutions to address them

  • Experience managing a team of data professionals in addition to contingent and outsourced labor


  • Experience with multiple data and application platforms (e.g. Salesforce, Informatica, BigQuery) and DG tools (e.g., Collibra, PowerBI, Dataplex) preferred




Skills and Attributes


  • Analytical thinker and problem solver with the ability to work under pressure and multitask while managing a team and driving process improvements

  • Strong understanding of MDM principles, data modeling, and data lifecycle management

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; prior experience presenting to executive management

  • People-focused leader with proven ability to build creative, collaborative teams, develop people and link performance to overall business objectives

  • Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships with key stakeholders as a trusted advisor

  • Ability to demonstrate ownership and proactively drive initiatives


This posting is a new position within our organization.

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 136,000 - 204,000 USD / Annual

United States - Tampa Office TAO : 136,000 - 204,000 USD / Annual

Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 139,000 - 209,000 CAD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
