Position Overview:
KTBC is seeking a Temporary Meteorologist to join our Weather Team. This role will be responsible for delivering concise, clear, and compelling weather forecasts for Central Texas across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Central Texas geography and weather patterns and can effectively communicate complex meteorological information in a way that connects with our audience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and deliver accurate, timely weather forecasts for live newscasts
  • Provide clear and concise coverage during severe weather events
  • Utilize graphics and weather technology systems to enhance storytelling
  • Contribute weather content for digital and social media platforms
  • Collaborate with the FOX 7 Weather Team and newsroom staff to support comprehensive coverage
  • Monitor local, regional, and national weather trends impacting Central Texas
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Central Texas weather patterns, including severe weather and seasonal trends
  • Strong on-air presentation skills and ability to communicate clearly under pressure
  • Experience with broadcast weather systems and forecasting tools
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • AMS and/or NWA Seal preferred
