SUMMARY
Agile is seeking an experienced and highly skills and innovative candidate with a strong background in database management to oversee the performance, integrity, and security of database systems. The Database Manager will be responsible for the entire database lifecycle, from design and development to implementation, maintenance, and optimization to security and performance. A key aspect of this role is having the hands-on programming experience required to build new databases from the ground up. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to ensure our data infrastructure is both reliable and efficient.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related products. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including patching, backups, and recovery operations, to ensure high availability and business continuity.
* Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize query performance and overall system efficiency. Analyze and tune database structures, indexes, and configurations.
* Implement and maintain robust database security policies and procedures. Manage user access, roles, and permissions to protect sensitive data. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards.
* Utilize programming skills to design, build, and implement new database schemas, tables, and views. Collaborate with development teams to create and optimize stored procedures, functions, and triggers. Establish and enforce database development standards.
* Provide expert-level support for database-related issues. Diagnose and resolve complex problems, including data corruption, performance degradation, and connectivity issues, in a timely manner.
* Plan and manage database capacity and growth. Forecast future needs and make recommendations for hardware and software upgrades. Evaluate and recommend new database technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Certifications

Education, Background, and Years of Experience
Master's degree in related field.
Bachelor's degree in related field with at least 6 years of experience.
One year of experience can be substituted by 15 semester hours completed towards a Master's degree.
Requires at least 1 certification in area of specialization. Additional certifications in the area of specialization may be substituted for experience but varies by certification.
The degree must be in a relevant technical curriculum and experience must be related to the job duties.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills
Mandatory programming experience (e.g., Python, Java, C#) with a proven ability to build a new database.
Strong expertise in one or more major database management systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell).Solid understanding of database design, normalization, and data modeling principles.
Experience with database backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
Proficient in standardized requirements analysis. Demonstrated ability to communicate, coordinate, and
collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Strong technical writing skills.
Preferred Skills
Hands-on experience with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL).
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with demonstrated expertise using Access.
Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) or big data technologies.
Experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and business intelligence (BI) tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
Proficient in database management.
Ability to handle stress and work well under pressure.
Quality interpersonal skills.
Quality oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to multitask and be organized.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions
* Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
Strength Demands
* Medium - 50 lbs. Maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
Physical Requirements
