Overview

The AVP Chief Data Officer (CDO) drives a data-driven culture by defining the enterprise data strategy overseeing data governance and partnering with business analysts to maximize data's business value. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer the CDO collaborates with executives and IS to ensure data quality security and alignment with strategic goals.



Responsibilities

    Develop and communicate enterprise data strategy to align with business objectives while championing a data-driven culture.

  • Establish and govern data management frameworks by implementing standardized governance structures defining data principles and enforcing policies standards and guidelines.

  • Ensure data quality security and compliance by developing measures to improve organizational trust in data and ensuring adherence to data protection regulations and standards.

  • Lead data investment and infrastructure initiatives by managing the data portfolio to drive strategic advantage and collaborating with IT to ensure the infrastructure supports evolving data needs.

  • Optimize data value and accessibility by enhancing collection management and sharing processes while enabling enterprise-wide adoption of data-as-a-service.

  • Orchestrates the budgeting process including strategy allocation and reconciliation

  • Set vision and collaborate with senior management to define and ensure success of departmental strategy

  • Provide managerial direction and oversee all aspects of performance management for direct reports and teams. Measure and hold all direct reports accountable for meeting defined goals and operational standards; ensure management teams are defining and holding teams accountable for all aspects of performance management of direct reports

  • Oversee and hold management accountable for all Human Resources-related managerial functions and responsibilities associated with hiring compensation management employment relations and termination of employees. Oversee the identification and hiring of new management and strategic roles

  • Develop future leaders and assist identifying leadership potential within the team that aligns with the people strategy. Build a management team bench capable of meeting the demands of rapid growth

  • Provide strategic influence to internal and external peer industry groups and/or customers

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex and high-level issues; provide direction and guidance to assist with resolution of issues and removing obstacles for team

  • Work with the leadership to plan the strategic vision organizational structure operating policies and procedures and management practices to ensure department delivers operational excellence

  • Work closely with appropriate stakeholders and business leaders to ensure success to drive collaborative work across departments



Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Data Science Computer Science Information Technology or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience in related field

  • Minimum 7 years experience in prior management experience

  • Relevant senior level management experience

  • Demonstrated fiscal responsibility/accountability in managing budgets

  • Experience with data analytics business intelligence and data warehousing.

  • Ability to coach mentor and provide feedback to team members in a timely manner

  • Exceptional ability to develop use and deliver engaging informative and compelling presentation methodologies

  • Knowledge of data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR CCPA).

  • Strong knowledge of data governance data quality and data management practices.

  • Up to 50% travel time required
