What you'll do as an Education Associate

  • Provide expertise and apply education-related knowledge across a range of topics, such as standards and instruction, teacher and leader development, educator and district/school accountability systems, personalized learning, multi-lingual learners, school improvement, instructional coaching, educator credentialing, educational organizational operating structures and roles/responsibilities, education technology and AI, evidence-based practices, data management and use, and ESSA
  • Design and deliver remote and/or on-site support to education stakeholders and grantees
  • Support facilitation of technical assistance/professional development on complex topics in politically sensitive environments
  • Contribute to identification of gaps in approaches to support and creation of innovative solutions for clients and grantee stakeholders
  • Support preparation and facilitation of meetings with AEM, subcontractors, and clients including the U.S. Department of Education, state and local educational agencies, non-profits, foundations and education associations
  • Contribute to product development including publications, deliverables, reports, protocols, standard operating procedures, educational standards and accountability resources, and plans
  • Design and moderate virtual discussions, webinars, conference calls, and meetings including capturing notes and tracking action items
  • Collect, track, and display data to monitor support activities that will be used to drive improvements
  • Collaboratively work with a team, including subcontractors
  • Support the team with knowledge management and monthly reporting


Required Qualifications (What You'll Bring to the Role)

  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters degree in public administration, P-12 education, or related field a plus
  • Minimum of four (4) years in an education policy, analysis, or closely-related role at a local educational agency, state, non-profit, federal or contractor organization
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills including presentations before small, medium, and/or large groups
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills with a practiced ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Expert knowledge and experience using the Microsoft 365 Suite, SmartSheet, and Zoom
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with a hybrid team located across the U.S.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to the Washington, DC metro area and other areas of the United States at least four times per year
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance via a Public Trust background investigation


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong preference for experience in a federal or state contractor role supporting education, policy, and human services
  • Experience and relationships with the U.S. Department of Education, state education agencies, and education non-profits
  • Experience as a school and/or district-level administrator
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local contracting regulations and processes
  • Demonstrated experience with providing technical assistance, analyzing educational data in a policy context, and managing grants
