We primarily work with law firms, insurance companies, and manufacturers on small to large-scale projects to answer any technical questions they have. As a firm, our projects can entail investigating major transportation accidents, equipment failures, personal injury claims, and damage to residential or commercial structures. In many cases, we provide structural design services for repairs and retrofits to damaged or otherwise deficient residential, commercial, and industrial structures. About This Role

Mechanical engineer with proven expertise in complex, industrial-scale mechanical infrastructure and production systems, as well as a demonstrated track record of producing technically rigorous and highquality work products. This consulting role requires excellent communication and writing skills, proficiency in project management, and an entrepreneurial mindset. The candidate will plan, direct, and coordinate activities for both large and smallscale client projects involving mechanical engineering issues and related technical subjects in support of industrial consulting projects, insurance investigations, and litigation analysis and support. The successful candidate is willing to develop into a leading expert in their field of specialization and to lead other staff. The candidate ensures that project goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed schedule and budget by performing and/or directing the following duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews and formulates project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, technical approach, staffing requirements, and allocation of available resources across project phases.
  • Leads multidisciplinary teams in conducting forensic investigations for legal, insurance, and other clients.
  • Establishes a work plan and staffing requirements for each project phase and arranges the assignment of project personnel.
  • Develops and participates in business development activities.
  • Conducts and directs field investigations as needed.
  • Performs engineering analysis, calculations, and research.
  • Prepares technical reports and provides professional opinions and advice to clients or other stakeholders.
  • Leads project personnel to provide technical advice and resolutions.
  • Testifies in court or arbitral hearings and provides deposition testimony, as required.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science/Applied Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, or a related engineering field.
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university is preferred.

Certifications Required

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain licensure.

Experience Requirements

  • Demonstrated technical mastery in one or more of the following disciplines: power and process systems; building mechanical systems; oil and gas facilities (upstream, midstream, or downstream); or machine design.
  • Experience evaluating technologies, manufacturing operations, processes, and product designs.
  • Design or standard-of-care experience within the field of expertise is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in subjectmatterrelevant analytical or experimental techniques.
  • Experience and familiarity with FMEA, PHA, HAZOP, MTBF, reliability analysis, rootcause analysis, fault tree analysis, event tree analysis, and uncertainty analyses are preferred.
  • A track record of building a book of business in engineering consulting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership through publications, technical presentations, or professional society/technical committee work is preferred.

Skills Required

  • A team player who actively engages others in accomplishing project work and office goals, both within their home office and across ESi offices.
  • Ability and desire to progress toward becoming a principal consultant within the firm.

Computer Skills Required

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work with subjectmatter experts in computational platforms.
