Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Join Memorial Sloan Kettering as a Nursing Assistant and play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality inpatient care! As a key member of the care team, you'll work closely with RNs and interdisciplinary partners to support patients through critical moments in their cancer journey. Intensive Care Unit (ICU): MSK's 20-bed Intensive Care Unit is the only ICU within the institution, offering high-acuity care for critically ill oncology patients. The unit manages a patient population that is approximately 40% surgical and 60% medical. Nurses care for some of the most complex and critically ill patients across the cancer continuum. The ICU fosters a culture of autonomy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continued professional growth.

Role Overview:

  • Be responsible for taking patient vital signs, including blood pressure, heart and respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation

  • Encourage patients to perform exercises and guide patient activities as advised including ambulating, transferring, turning, and positioning

  • Maintain a clean, comfortable environment for each patient that aligns with MSK policies and procedures

  • Perform personal hygiene tasks for patients including bathing, mouth care, peri-care, and skin care

  • Ensure patient has necessary supplies every day, including a clean gown, towels, and soap; change bed linens as needed

  • Record intake and output

  • Escort discharged patients out of the hospital as directed by RN

Key Qualifications:

  • Nursing Assistant or other healthcare-related certification (PCT, EMT, Med Tech, Home Health Aide, LPN) required, OR at least 1 year of direct patient care experience (in inpatient, outpatient, emergency, long-term care, or home health settings) in lieu of certification

  • BLS Certification required by the time of hire

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, transferring, prolonged standing, and frequent movement throughout a shift

  • Location: 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY

  • Schedule: Nights7pm-7:30am; Monday through Friday, weekend and holiday rotation

Pay Range: $22.87 - $29.38 FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
