Job Description

This role will be responsible for the review of data as part of the global consolidation to ensure accurate information for financial reporting and preparation of financial reporting schedules. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical accounting expertise, exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills, is driven and has a continuous improvement mindset. This role is highly collaborative and visible with multiple stakeholders of the company.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform review of division data as part of consolidation for unusual items that may require adjustment

  • Analytical review statistical data submissions from Division as part of monthly and quarterly close process to ensure accuracy of data used for financial reporting
  • Preparation of financial statements and schedules for the quarterly and annual reporting to Berkshire Hathaway or internal/government reporting
  • Evaluate commercial contract terms for appropriate accounting treatment (i.e., revenue recognition, embedded leases, liquidated damages, consignment, settlements)
  • Review judgmental areas of accounting throughout the organization and assist with documentation of complex accounting matters
  • Provide support and guidance on technical accounting to Division/plant contacts
  • Review lease input by Divisions into our lease accounting system to ensure appropriate accounting
  • Develop policies that adhere to company and general accounting standards
  • Support the enhancement of the Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close system including the design of internal reporting tools within the system
  • Assist with FCCS administration activities including metadata updates, chart of account maintenance, and close task tracking
  • Manage data transfer from US GAAP ledger to statutory application and perform validation testing
  • Assist with the review of statutory financial reporting process
  • Support the internal and external auditors' processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA certification preferred
  • 5-7 years of relevant financial reporting with minimum of 3 years public accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and key finance and accounting principles
  • Detail-oriented self-started with the ability to prioritize to meet routine and non-routine deadlines
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Motivated to deliver a quality product and willingness to take on additional responsibilities
  • Oracle EPM including SmartView knowledge is a plus
  • Skilled to work independently with limited management oversight
