Responsibilities

Peraton provides maintenance and operational IT support that includes engineering services for the systems, equipment, hardware, and software. This engineer/architect will serve as a key member of the Tier 3 team while also leading the processes that ensure efficient management of O365 services, effective administration and communication regarding updates and enhancements, and robust security and compliance measures. The position will require thought leadership, hands-on support, and direction of other Engineering staff in the day to day management and administration of the HHS-OIG O365 suite of services, among other duties.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Computer Systems Engineer-Office 365 will provide thought leadership and initiative to drive consistent performance and timely improvements to the O365 environment. You will be joining a forward-thinking, innovative team that is responsible for building and overseeing public and private servers and network infrastructure in a way that supports key business objectives.

    Successfully maintain Office 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive for Business to meet organizational needs.
  • Proficiently handle Office 365 tenant administration tasks including user and group management, license assignment and management, security and compliance settings, and service health monitoring.
  • Facilitate the deployment of M365 Copilot including putting in place prerequisites, creating a pilot phase that leads to a broader deployment
  • Successfully lead communication efforts regarding updates and enhancements to Office 365 services, ensuring that all users and stakeholders are fully informed of new features, benefits, and potential impacts.
  • Expertly manage and oversee the implementation of Microsoft Purview to enhance data governance and compliance across the organization. This includes setting up and maintaining Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, configuring sensitivity labels for data classification and protection, and supporting legal and compliance teams by creating efficient eDiscovery searches.
  • Seamless Identity Management Integration: Ensure smooth integration of Office 365 with Azure Active Directory (AAD), further enhance Single Sign-On (SSO) password less configurations, manage directory synchronization, and enforce multi-factor authentication (MFA). Also create and update conditional access policies to maintain highest level of security.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices within Office 365 environments, including data encryption, and configuration of advanced security features like Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Information Rights Management (IRM).
  • Utilize PowerShell scripting to automate administrative tasks, manage Office 365 services, and integrate with Microsoft Graph API for programmatic access to data and services, thereby increasing operational efficiency.
  • Support app developers and users in the usage of Power Platform components including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Virtual Agents enhancing productivity and collaboration within the organization.
  • Develop governance policies and implement Center of Excellence (COE).
  • Demonstrate expertise in Microsoft Intune for cloud-based mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM), effectively managing and securing mobile devices, enforcing policies, deploying applications, and safeguarding corporate data.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including methods of procedure, SOPs, and technical diagrams.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Expertise Microsoft Office 365 including but not limited to:
    • Exchange Online (email and calendaring)
    • SharePoint Online (document management and collaboration)
    • Microsoft Teams (chat, meetings, and collaboration)
    • OneDrive for Business (file storage and sharing)
    • User and group management
    • License assignment and management
    • Security and compliance settings
    • Service health monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Strong demonstrated experience in the following:

Identity Management

  • Azure Active Directory (AAD) integration with Office 365
  • Single Sign-On (SSO) configurations using AAD or third-party identity providers
  • Directory synchronization using Azure AD Connect or similar tools
  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) and conditional access policies

Microsoft Defender & Purview

  • Security best practices for securing Office 365 environments
  • Data encryption and protection mechanisms
  • Compliance features such as retention policies, legal hold, and audit logging
  • Configuration of advanced features such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Rights Management (IRM), and eDiscovery.

Microsoft Power Platform, including support of custom business applications, workflows, and reports using these tools:

    • Power Apps
    • Power Automate
    • Power BI
    • Power Virtual Agents

Automation and Scripting (PowerShell); automating administrative tasks and managing Office 365 services, including:

    • PowerShell cmdlets for Office 365 administration
    • Scripting tasks such as user provisioning, license management, and configuration changes
    • Integration with Microsoft Graph API for programmatic access to Office 365 data and services
    • Intune, including managing and securing mobile devices, enforcing policies, deploying applications, and protecting corporate data on devices.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and can thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the willingness to collaborate with cross-functional departments and teams.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in IT, or a related field.
  • Microsoft O365 Certification

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
