The Office of the Registrar is dedicated to ensuring that students make successful progress toward their degrees and graduation by providing the best possible service to all members of the diverse GW community. The office maintains academic records from enrollment through graduation and offers a wide range of services in the areas of classroom scheduling, enrollment verification, registration, requirements tracking, transcripts, and degree conferral. We support the university's mission to promote lifelong learning by administering the various academic policies of the university and providing support to students, faculty, administrators, and alumni.
Reporting to the
Associate Registrar for Graduation Services, the
Graduation and Records Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
- Conducts detailed reviews of graduation clearances, transcripts, and DegreeMAP (Degree Works) to verify graduation eligibility.
- Maintains effective communication with academic department representatives regarding academic policy as it affects a student's graduation status.
- Manage the paper graduation application process and work with the various schools to make students eligible for graduation.
- Assist students, schools, and others as needed with graduation audits and eligibility
- Provide support in mailing diplomas and certificates to students and assist in the notarization and apostille process when necessary.
- Maintain best practices in records management to ensure that graduation records are accurate.
- Deliver customer support and communication via telephone and e-mail for the graduation services office.
- Cross-training and assistance opportunities within the Graduation Services and DegreeMAP Teams to provide back-up support in diploma ordering, petition processing, program and degree scribing, and other internal DegreeMAP processes.
The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. |
| Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/
GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

| Preferred Qualifications: |
- Experience in higher education is desired, preferably in a registrar's office.
- Experience working with student information systems is a plus, preferably Ellucian Banner and Degree Works.
- Working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations affecting academic institutions is desired, particularly FERPA.
- Commitment and experience in developing a positive and proactive customer service-oriented environment.
- Experience with academic programs or academic records is a plus.
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment or a clear commitment to serving diverse populations is desired.
- Strong communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
