About the Bancroft School

Started in 1995, the Bancroft School at Voorhees Pediatric Facility is the first New Jersey Department of Education-approved private school within a pediatric specialized-care facility. This program partners with VPF to give children with special medical conditions the opportunity to get the education they need while remaining in the building with access to continuous skilled nursing care.

Students who are medically fragile or are technology-dependent can attend school and further their education in comfortable, medically equipped, and technology-advanced classrooms. As part of its special education program, The Bancroft School focuses on individualized education through a collaborative approach while remaining community-oriented.

The current hiring range for this position is: $60,587-$90,000. Based on years of experience.



Responsibilities

Position Summary:


Plans and implements classroom instruction, specializing within one or more areas of curriculum, to specifically meet the educational needs of students and to encourage the best possible student educational experience.

    Assesses abilities and capabilities of individual students; develops, organizes, and implements lesson plans and activities that are individual-specific, meet the learning needs of each student, encourage increased skills, and address specific IEP goals
  • Monitors existing IEPs to ensure that stated educational goals and objectives are appropriate, achievable, and continue to meet the educational needs of individual students
  • Recommends appropriate modifications to the existing IEP
  • May conduct parent training in the classroom and at home
  • Utilize the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis throughout observation, intervention, data collection, and assessment


Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and eligibility for formal certification such as N.J. Teacher of Disabilities (or of the Handicapped) required.
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience in special education preferred
  • Eligibility for Highly-Qualified Teacher status required.
  • Knowledge of teaching methods and educational programs designed for students with learning, physical and behavior disabilities.
  • Effective teaching and facilitation skills required. Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills required
