Public Works Position 

Town of Chilhowie

The Town of Chilhowie is accepting applications for a full time position of Public Works Operator in the Department of Public Works. Under the direction of the Director of Public Works and / or Foreman duties will include a variety of maintenance, repair and replacement activities relating to the Town’s water and sewer system, storm water, streets, parks , buildings and grounds, etc. Experience with, or the ability to learn, the operation of trucks, backhoes, tractors, mowers or similar equipment is needed.

The beginning hourly wage is competitive with general maintenance experience, and will be higher with a Commercial Driver’s License and maintenance experience. The attractive benefit package includes a yearly merit increase evaluation, cost of living increases, Virginia Retirement System benefits paid 95% by the Town, Anthem insurance for both medical and dental for single/ family coverages at 80% paid by Town, paid Town holidays, vacation and sick leave.
