Payroll Tax Lead
Location: IL-Lake County Length of Initial Contract: 1 year The Payroll Tax Lead is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll tax payments, reporting, and overall payroll tax compliance across the organization. The lead oversees US and Puerto Rico payroll tax operations, stay abreast on tax regulations, and implements adjustments to maintain compliance standards. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, an in-depth understanding of payroll tax legislation, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve payroll tax procedures. This role will also support activities necessary to complete the processing of the payroll for US and Puerto Rico, including inspecting/auditing tax registers, tax filing and reporting for accuracy and yearly tax statements. Requirements: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Finance / Accounting / Tax. Very Proficient in Excel, Word, and related functions and high level of attention to detail 7-9 years of US and Puerto Rico payroll tax experience. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent. Lead and mentor a team of payroll professionals, fostering a high-performing culture while supporting a continuous improvement mindset. Working knowledge of Workday Payroll and Tax experience integrating with 3rd party applications. Strong customer orientation and a work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations. Strong written and oral communication skills, in English Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, as well as to get results through collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external. Good analytical and process diagnostic skills and the ability to get into the details, while also seeing and understanding the big picture. Strong spreadsheet and database skills. Continuous improvement orientation. Strong project management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and requests.
