Job Title: Project Controls Analyst, Associate
Location: Fresno, CA 93720 (Hybrid - 2-4 days per month onsite/field)
Duration: 9 Months
Work Schedule: Standard 8 hours/day, 5 days/week
Travel: Up to 35%
Position Overview
The Project Controls Analyst, Associate supports electric transmission and distribution operations through cost analysis, forecasting, scheduling, reporting, and financial performance monitoring. This role works closely with Project Managers and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure projects remain on budget and on schedule. Local candidates only (must reside within service territory).

Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Financial Analysis
Develop and maintain cost plans and monthly forecasts
Prepare cost, schedule, and performance reports
Analyze variances and recommend corrective actions
Support budget, quarterly cycle, and financial reporting
Prepare journal entries and process goods receipts
Monitor forecasting performance and financial scorecards
Coordinate variance explanations and stakeholder reporting
Project Documentation & Controls
Track milestones and validate project performance
Maintain project documentation (electronic systems)
Manage orders from initiation to closeout
Maintain logs (change orders, contingencies, journal entries)
Support post-job critiques
Ensure compliance with operational standards and policies
Schedule Development & Monitoring
Develop and update project schedules and cash flow forecasts
Attend kickoff and status meetings
Monitor progress and revise plans as needed
Track financial progress and order groups
Utilize tools such as SAP Project System and Primavera P6
Data Management & Reporting
Prepare weekly/monthly performance reports and scorecards
Validate datasets and ensure reporting quality
Support ad-hoc cost analysis requests
Participate in process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Minimum
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
* 1 year of experience in electric or gas transmission or distribution business operations area, business planning, accounting, finance, construction management or project management; OR, 1 year of experience in electric or gas transmission and/or distribution business operations area, business planning, accounting, finance, construction management and/or project management, if hired externally
Desired
* Experience with appropriate software tools, e.g., SAP Work Management, BPC, Planning Orders, BW, P6 (Primavera), MS Excel
* Knowledge of Unifier, ProjectWise, and/or HeavyBid
* Competency in providing direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done
* Competency in interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators to make better business decisions
* Competency in making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
* Knowledge of mathematics - for example algebra, geometry, trigonometry - as needed to perform at the job level
* Ability to apply project management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level
* Knowledge of project management tools - for example Primavera, work scheduling and management - as needed to perform at the job level
* Project Management, Project Controls, or Construction Management experience
* Risk Management and Earned Value Analysis experience
* Accounting/budgeting knowledge
* Forecasting skills
* Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
* Willing to travel
* Experience with SPSI reporting
