Job Summary
The Associate Director of Jewish Talks, reporting to the Executive Director of 92NY Talks, will be responsible for curating and implementing compelling and relevant Talks focusing on topics of Jewish and spiritual interest. The successful candidate would be a thought leader, inviting some of the great minds of our times to the 92NY stages and expanding engagement with Jewish issues locally and worldwide.
Job Responsibilities Include
As a member of the Talks team, the Associate Director will create and cultivate relationships with talent, guest speakers, moderators, publishers, and agents for signature high profile events.
- Under the direction of the 92NY Talks team, but in consultation with senior leadership in Jewish Life, including 92NY's Senior Director of Jewish Life, this role will be responsible for the following:
- Generally to ideate, plan and book Jewish- and Israel-themed programming, including "main stage events" (i.e., events in 92NY's Buttenwieser Hall and Kaufmann Concert Hall), book talks and other programs, which may or may not be main stage events and which may or may not feature 92NY's Senior Director of Jewish Life (though efforts will be made to include such Senior Director where practicable);
- And, specifically, to ideate, plan and book:
- At least one main stage event per month during 92NY's fall, winter and spring seasons focused on prominent guests' spiritual journeys in conversation with 92NY's Senior Director of Jewish Life;
- Guests for 92NY's Senior Director of Jewish Life's podcast, "Detours and Destinations;"
- The prestigious annual "State of World Jewry" main stage event;
- At least one book talk, which may or may not be a main stage event, featuring 92NY's Senior Director of Jewish Life.
- In support of the foregoing, though a member of 92NY's Talks team and reporting to the Director of 92NY Talks, the Associate Director will meet regularly with the CEO and President of 92NY and senior leadership in Jewish Life, including 92NY's Senior Director of Jewish Life, to ideate about upcoming programs, discuss programs that are in the works and otherwise coordinate.
- Supervise the Jewish Talks staff..
- Responsible for oversight and seamless operation for each event, including determining and securing event security, working with the Legal Department to protect 92NY's intellectual property rights in contracts and releases, securing rights to a speaker's name/image/likeness, and coordinating event publicity across 92NY marketing, communications, digital and production departments.
- Lead and steward partnerships with peer Jewish organizations to develop and present high impact Jewish Talks programming.
- Responsible for ongoing communication to 92NY leadership, funders, and stakeholders, offering timely updates and insights on program development.
- Working closely with the Bronfman team to manage the Jewish Talks budget and contribute to creating new revenue streams.
- Manage events from conception to completion, as required, including troubleshooting any issues that occur before, during or after the event.
- Collaborate with the sponsorship team to steward relationships that support and advance 92NY Talks.
- Liaise with the development department, donors, and funders, to ensure the strategic leveraging of program opportunities aligned with donors interests and priorities.
- Identify digital content from events to drive brand awareness and increase engagement.
- Oversee the timely submission, approval, and payment of vendor invoices.
Experience, Education, & Skills Desired
- BA or MA required in a relevant field
- 8+ years' experience of designing and delivering successful events, both online and live.
- Motivational leader with managerial and project management experience, with proven ability to collaborate with subject matter experts across departments.
- Exceptional vision combined with deep knowledge of the Jewish world, with a keen sense of speakers and topics that resonate with broad and engaged audiences
- Ability to independently develop, plan, and implement high profile programming.
- Proven success securing high-profile speakers and managing complex projects.
- Highly motivated to create new content to capture a more diverse audience.
- Engage with 92NY's Collective program to create programming of interest to a younger audience (20s, 30s).
- Commitment to teamwork and cross-departmental partnership.
- Excellent research and presentation skills accompanied by strong interpersonal skills. Candidates should possess strong diplomatic ability.
- Strong familiarity with the content area.
- An "idea" person, trendsetter, creative in formulating new program pitches.
- Well-read and intellectually curious, with varied interests that pertain to the world of Talks: politics, film, contemporary culture, television, art, and music.
- Demonstrated experience in working on simultaneous, multiple, projects.
- An out of the box creative thinker, able to put together new concepts and pair interesting guests.
- Commitment to the future of Jewish life.
- Energetic, positive, "can do" attitude able to collaborate with various team members.
Work Environment & Requirements

Compensation Range $85,000 - $110,000 The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
