Job Summary

The Communications Coordinator provides administrative and media relations support for the fast-paced Communications department at the Getty Center, reporting to the Assistant Director of Media Relations.



Major Job Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

    Monitoring and routing incoming phone calls and emails to the general Communications department phone line and email box
  • Media monitoring
  • Formatting and distributing press clips
  • Biweekly internal communications press clip reports
  • Managing press clip database
  • Preparing clip books and reach reports
  • Prepping and staffing press events
  • Formatting and sending press materials
  • Scheduling meetings
  • Fulfilling image requests
  • Researching and developing press lists
  • Escorting occasional camera crews
  • Providing back-up support for the Administrative Assistant to VP of Communications
  • Note-taking as requested during meetings
  • Digital and physical file storage and organization
  • Copyediting and using translation tools


Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 3-4 years related experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential
  • Must be reliable, flexible, forward-thinking, and able to meet multiple daily deadlines
  • Must possess exceptional time management skills and good judgment in handling confidential material
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Acrobat, Photoshop, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with FileMaker Pro, Cision, Muckrack, Mailchimp, coveragebook.com, and PowerPoint desirable
  • Proficiency or willingness to gain proficiency in media and content management software
  • Fluency or working knowledge of a language besides English is desirable
