Position Overview The Laboratory Support Services (LSS) Specialist is responsible for managing and resolving order management exceptions and errors. This role supports resolution efforts by monitoring system queues and communicating findings and feedback to operational teams. The LSS Specialist serves as a subject matter expert and primary liaison for order-related processes across associated departments at Exact Sciences. Successful candidates demonstrate effective time management and strong communication skills with both peers and leadership while executing the essential duties of the role. Essential Duties The specific duties and requirements may vary depending on the organization's needs and practices. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide coverage or support in the absence of Supervisor and coordinate task assignments/schedules.
- Provide summaries to the leadership team regarding team performance, error rates and process improvement opportunities.
- Coach and mentor team members to increase performance.
- Lead and oversee the entry of patients and order information into the laboratory information system (LIS) with precision and attention to detail.
- Assist the leadership team with coordinating and/or monitoring laboratory workflow to maintain accountability for staff productivity and other quality measures.
- Collaborate, as needed, with other departments for any new product launches, process changes, and/or regulatory/compliance changes that need to be incorporated in the laboratory training of personnel.
- Follow and assess established procedures; adhere and perform risk assessments; understand, train, and enforce safety regulations.
- Remain competent and perform bench work approximately 70% of the time, for example sample receipt, order entry and specimen preparation, sample collection, and other lab activities.
- Clean and organize laboratory areas and take responsibility for maintenance tasks being completed on time.
- Utilize Laboratory Information System (LIS), enter orders, and maintain turnaround time to ensure testing enters workflow in a timely manner.
- Support the laboratory as a subject matter expert on the laboratory Information Technology systems and provide support for the build, optimization, and roll out of the IT systems.
- Support the development of and ensure SOPs are written per CAP, CLIA, and NY requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of and ensure operations are performed according to HIPAA regulations.
- Adhere to all Quality regulations (CAP, CLIA & NY State), quality management systems (QMS) and ensure all training and competency forms are complete, as necessary.
- Identify relevant training needs, provide support and provide ideas and feedback to leadership.
- Provide feedback to supervisor for possible job changes based on competencies of laboratory personnel.
- Commit to continued professional development and maintain knowledge in relevant fields.
- Support the leadership team in auditing and organizing training documents as assigned.
- Responsible for supporting the completion of, and documenting skill competencies for existing and new team members.
- Acts as a mentor for new and existing employees.
- Identify, develop, and participate in continuing education and staff meetings; prepare and present continuing education programs for department personnel as requested.
- Review exception handling logs, issue trackers and/or quality KPIs, under the guided direction of Supervisor, to identify trends, corrective actions, and remedial actions.
- Contribute to overall team goals while still maintaining individual output; foresees issues and overcomes obstacles to completing tasks or assignments.
- Communicate timely and regularly to management, stakeholders, and staff to ensure effective change management and address potential issues in advance.

- Ability to comply with any applicable PPE requirements.
- Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
- Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
- Ability to use various types of laboratory equipment; including microscopes, microtomes, blades, strainers, and pipettes for extended periods of time.
- May perform repetitious actions using lab tools.
- Ability to use near vision to view samples at close range.
- May be exposed to hazardous materials, tissue specimens, and instruments with moving parts, lasers, heating and freezing elements, and high-speed centrifugation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree in science, health science, or related field; or High School Diploma and 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- 2+ years of experience working in a laboratory or similar environment (i.e., Medical Data Entry, maintaining sample integrity following procedures and protocols, etc).
- Proven experience in order entry, data entry, or administrative roles, preferably in laboratory or healthcare setting.
- Shown Leadership abilities with experience in mentoring a team.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mentorship experience; including peer-to-peer mentorship.

Salary Range: $48,000.00 - $85,000.00
The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
