Prototype Wirer

POSITION SUMMARY:

With minimum supervision working from schematics, prints or engineering sketches will develop PC boards, perform wiring and harness layout. Maintain a high level of quality in task performance. Close liaison with various engineering/manufacturing disciplines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

  • Wires, solders and assembles electrical components from schematics, sketches and/or verbal instructions.
  • Capable of developing wire run lists from schematics and associated harness board for harness assembly.
  • Uses all hand tools necessary for assembly task such as soldering iron, pliers, cutters, strippers, drill press, etc.
  • Incorporate engineering changes to PC boards, i.e. cut lands, add terminals, jumpers, relocate components, etc.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineering with Op sheet development, wire routing and assembly techniques.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineering with tooling design and producibility improvements.
  • Perform basic product verification test functions using equipment such as Hi-pot, Megohm meter, Micro Ohmeter.
  • Recommend design changes and product improvements.
  • Assist TL/VSM with training Wirers and Assemblers on difficult and complex subassemblies and end items.
  • With TL/VSM, provide oversight and direction for daily tasks and activities to department personnel.
  • Participate in Lean and HPT activities to reduce department costs and meet productivity objectives.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of seven to ten years' assembly and wiring experience.
  • Training in electronic theory, wiring and soldering technology.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to work as a member of a team and participate in goal setting, performance feedback and self-developmental activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and sketches.
  • Knowledge of applicable hand tools.

Typical Mental and Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Manual dexterity must be demonstrated.

Pay, Benefits, Work Schedule

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $31/hr to $46.6/hr
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
