Position Summary/Department Summary:
The mission of the Department of Pharmacy is to provide excellent and innovative pharmaceutical care to patients and the community through safe and collaborative practices, incorporating education, research, and technology. We are currently searching for three one-year Pharmacy Residents, Summer 2026-2027

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviews, fills and dispenses physician medication orders/prescriptions. Interprets and evaluates medication orders to ensure drug and dosage are appropriate for patient and identifies possible adverse reactions, contacting physician as needed.
  • Checks orders/prescriptions filled by support personnel, verifying products are correctly prepared and labeled.
  • Counsels patients on proper use, storage and side effects of prescribed medications.
  • Monitors work volume and delegates work assignments to meet established schedules and patient care requirements.
  • Monitors and evaluates work performance, providing guidance, feedback and instruction as needed to ensure patient medications are prepared, labeled, recorded and distributed according to established procedures, standards and regulations.
  • Prepares and maintains various logs and records, such as distribution of controlled substances, quality assurance reviews and work volume statistics in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Performs periodic audits of specific departmental services or functions and documents results.
  • Reviews and updates operations and practice guidelines for area of responsibility.
  • Evaluates, identifies and recommends changes in systems, methods and procedures to improve operational efficiency and quality of patient care.
  • Participates in departmental training and continuing education programs. Serves as preceptor for student interns, identifying and assigning clinical experiences, monitoring, documenting and reporting performance and providing guidance and feedback.
  • Identifies, recommends and conducts training and educational programs for department personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
  • Doctorate degree in Pharmacy

Licensure/Certification:
  • Massachusetts pharmacist license

We are currently recruiting for three one-year Pharmacy Residents (Two traditional, one oncology), Summer 2026-2027. These positions are benefits eligible.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
