Job Description

Impact
This internship provides a current student or recent graduate with hands-on experience in a technical environment while contributing to meaningful, real-world projects. You will support quality and process initiatives, gain exposure to day-to-day operations, and build practical skills that prepare you for a career in technology or engineering.
What You'll Do
  • Assist with maintaining and updating departmental databases, spreadsheets, and content management systems
  • Support implementation and troubleshooting of office technology, software applications, and digital tools
  • Create and update technical documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures
  • Perform data entry, validation, cleanup, and basic reporting using Excel, Google Sheets, or database tools
  • Support system testing, form development, and workflow automation using platforms such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
  • Provide first-level technical support to staff, including software setup, printer troubleshooting, and access issues
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives through research, analysis, and documentation
  • Collaborate with IT staff or business analysts on technology-driven projects or service requests
  • Present a final project or summary of learning to the team at the end of the internship
What You'll Bring
  • Basic understanding of databases, spreadsheets, and office productivity tools such as Excel formulas, Google Forms, or SharePoint
  • Familiarity with help desk or ticketing systems and cloud-based tools is a plus
  • Strong analytical, technical troubleshooting, and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and work effectively in ambiguous situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain confidentiality and follow data security protocols
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage tasks independently

Experience
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Work Location
This is an in-office internship based at WGU's office in Salt Lake City, Utah, with four days per week on site.
