Summary

To serve as a resource for the accounting, compliance and administrative duties required to issue, record and collect student tuition and loans related to all student programs.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintaining the finances of the Institutionally managed Federal Loan Programs and Institutional student loan programs and scholarships. This includes coordinating the preparation of promissory notes before the loan is disbursed, disbursement of loan and scholarship funds, and collection of loan payments. Maintain the emergency loan fund including disbursement, collection and reconciliation.

  • Responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance related to the issuance and collections of Federal student loans. Responsible for advising students of their responsibilities and options for consolidating, deferring or forbearing Federal and institutional loans. Perform exit interviews for graduating and withdrawing students. Work with collections agencies and attorneys as needed on the collection of loan payments.

  • Responsible for external reporting on the federal loan programs.

  • Assist with the assessment and collection of student tuition and fees for all schools. Work directly with students on tuition and loan inquiries. Interact with the various schools to determine tuition assessments, Financial Aid to process student loan payments from lending agencies, and various school personnel to handle financial matters of withdrawing students.

  • Prepare journal entries as requested and needed to resolve processing problems or errors in student tuition account matters.

  • Perform assigned duties related to the month-end and year-end financial statement closing and audit.

  • Maintain and implement, where appropriate, sound internal accounting controls to efficiently manage student tuition and loans.

  • Assist in the testing of student accounts information technology service requests.

  • In addition to daily tuition financial, accounting and administrative functions, this position will be responsible for various projects assigned to enhance department processes and procedures.

Qualifications

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

Minimum Required Experience: 5 years

Physical Requirements

Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

Sensory Acuity

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
