Job Summary:

A tank foreman supervises and coordinates the construction, maintenance, and repair of large storage tanks for liquids and gases. This requires a deep understanding of safety regulations, welding, and other construction techniques to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to industry quality standards. Has vast knowledge of project types as follows: Flat bottom tanks with external floating roof. Flat bottom tanks with fixed roof (self-supported and structure-supported) and internal floating roof.

Job Functions:



  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

  • Perform duties within a precise limit or standard of accuracy (Quality Control).
  • Performs system verification on completed systems to assure correct installation per design specifications.
  • Reviews NDE reports at jobs to ensure that all code and customer requirements have been met.
  • Assist in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities and equipment requirements.
  • Supervise craft workers assigned to area of responsibility, provide liaison between field engineering and crafts to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Advise project management of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties. Leverage their experience and understanding of all-around tank maintenance and construction to assist in resolving such problems, as required.
  • Ensure all company, department and technical policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to. Interpret policies, as required.
  • Work with Apprenticeship Program to encourage development of skilled and trained workforce.
  • May be required to train and supervise apprentices.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Minimum of five (5) years' maintenance experience in refinery environment.
  • Thorough understanding of industrial maintenance type work and expertise in basic hand tools.
  • Knowledge of API standards (653) preferred with previous welding experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and protocols
  • Able to proficiently run several types of equipment (forklifts, manlifts, etc.)


  • Able to communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and other departments about issues and solutions.
  • The ability to logically diagnose and solve complex equipment issues independently is critical.
  • A steady hand and good hand-eye coordination are necessary for working with small parts.
  • Must be able to pass an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Craft proficiency test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft.


  • Complete the Company's Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client/Site specific training.
  • MUST obtain and maintain active status within the appropriate drug testing program.
  • MUST pass background check.
  • MUST have TWIC card.
  • MUST have a 20-hour high hazard facility training card.
  • MUST have Verification of 8,000 craft related hours OR Graduated journeyperson status preferred.


Physical Requirements:



  • Employee will be standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.


  • Must be able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work from platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocols.
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long periods of time, up to 12 hours a day.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.

The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors influencing pay. As such, the actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of this range, and in certain circumstances, may fall outside the listed hiring range.

Hiring range: $53.00 to $65.00 per hour

Full range for this position, available over time: $53.00 to $65.00 per hour
