Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a GIS Analyst III with experience in the petroleum pipeline industry and strong geographic information systems expertise to become part of our team! Role Summary: The GIS Analyst III position is an intermediate-level role focused on managing geospatial data, creating maps, and supporting integrity and various other programs within the Buckeye organization. This role requires proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), data management tools, and processes. The ideal candidate will be familiar with linear referencing systems and have experience in the petroleum pipeline industry. Responsibilities & Essential Functions include: Supporting the implementation of Buckeye's GIS programs including, but not limited to: GIS Program Support
- Applying advanced knowledge of spatial and non-spatial analysis tools, including linear referencing tools.
- Utilizing advanced knowledge of scripting and geoprocessing workflows.
- Developing solutions using ArcGIS Enterprise configurable apps.
- Participating in GIS projects by scoping, gathering requirements, analyzing workflows, and documenting.
- Facilitating periodic reviews and proposing continuous improvements to procedures and documentation.
- Partnering with business analysts and stakeholders to refine requirements, map current-state workflows, estimate level of effort, and communicate timelines and risks for GIS deliverables.
- Supporting emergency response activities as requested.
Data Integration & Management
- Providing significant input to design and execution of data integration activities using a variety of data management tools & concepts.
- Participating in routine data maintenance tasks.
- Performing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) operations and data reconciliation processes.
- Developing and executing quality control procedures.
GIS Administration
- Creating, maintaining, and documenting feature classes, web layers, maps, and web mapping applications.
- Investigating, analyzing, and resolving complex GIS workflow, data quality, and application issues; recommending corrective actions and preventive controls.
- Designing and maintaining GIS web applications, dashboards, and geoprocessing tools using ArcGIS Enterprise configurable apps, web maps, and Python/ModelBuilder as appropriate.
- Developing and maintaining scripts and automation to improve repeatable GIS tasks (e.g., QA/QC checks, ETL validations, layer publishing support) in alignment with team standards.
- Contributing to geospatial data models and technical specifications by translating business needs into GIS requirements, supporting solution design, and producing clear technical documentation.
- Developing and maintaining GIS procedures, job aids, and standard work for data updates, publishing, QA/QC, and common analysis workflows.
- Customer Service - Routinely receiving, clarifying, and providing deliverables for ad-hoc and routine data requests from a variety of internal customers with minimal supervision.
- Stakeholder Engagement.
- Interfacing with a variety of stakeholders with some oversight from senior GIS Staff.
- Participating in scheduled stakeholder outreach including but not limited to webinar series and formal training.
- Department Support. Providing support for Asset Integrity Team members.
- And other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Information Science, Engineering, a GIS Certificate, or an equivalent qualification is required.
- Generally, candidates should have 5+ years of pertinent experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in essential data integration principles, best practices, and standard tools.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications required.
- Proficiency working with the ESRI ArcGIS suite of products required.
- Competency with SQL, Python, Arcade, or other programming languages is required.
- Travel Requirements: 5% travel possible.
Certificates & Licenses:
- GIS Professional Certification (GISP) highly desirable.

- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, as well as strong time management skills are paramount.
- Excellent skills to function as part of a team of subject matter experts in support of operations and compliance objectives.
- The individual must be well organized with the ability to keep accurate records and provide status updates.
- Competency in the practical application of Artificial Intelligence is preferred.

Physical & Safety Requirements:
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
- This role continuously operates a computer and other office equipment.
