The SEO Associate supports Herzing University's digital marketing strategy by contributing efforts that enhance organic search visibility, increase website traffic, and improve user engagement. Reporting to and working under the direction of the SEO Manager, this role collaborates with web development and digital marketing teams to implement SEO strategies across website content and technical initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in SEO or related digital marketing disciplines such as copywriting, technical writing, content creation, web development, or analytics. Relevant academic coursework or a degree in a related field may be considered toward this experience.
  • Foundational awareness and understanding of large language models (LLMs) and AI search tools.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and a solid understanding of web technologies such as CSS, JavaScript, and overall website architecture.
  • Familiarity with SEO and reporting tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, BrightEdge, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, Screaming Frog, or similar platforms preferred.


Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan. The salary range for this position is $62,560 to $84,640.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Owns refining and executing optimization strategies to improve visibility in search engines across both traditional and AI-powered search environments.
  • Develop topic models and informational hierarchies that reflect and are aligned with how prospective students search for higher education programs and career pathways.
  • Edit, format, and organize web content, including the effective use of AI tools to support content development and optimization.
  • Partner with Academic Compliance and other University departments to interpret requirements and ensure website content is accurate, compliant, and aligned with institutional standards.
  • Manage and update content within the Drupal CMS, applying knowledge of HTML and website architecture to ensure consistency and functionality.
  • Analyze technical SEO factors to ensure the website and related digital assets are accessible to search engines and AI-driven search tools.
  • Perform website scraping using regular expressions and/or XPath to audit and analyze website content.
  • Collect, clean, analyze, and manipulate data to support a data-driven, iterative approach to SEO strategy and performance improvement.
  • Apply a testing-first approach that emphasizes experimentation, measurement, and continuous evaluation of SEO initiatives.
  • Analyze search demand, competitive landscapes, and user behavior trends to support marketing and content strategies.
  • Make data-driven recommendations that influence digital marketing, content strategy, and use experience decisions.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position most of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally move around the work location.
  • Constantly operates office and/or teach equipment which may include computers, copiers, fax machines, audio/visuals.
  • Frequently uses voice and hearing to communicate with students, staff or colleagues face-to-face or over the telephone.
  • Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess.
  • Occasionally move, carry, or lift 10 pounds.
