Position Summary:

This position is responsible for managing at least one distribution building/operation in the companys Philadelphia Distribution Center (DC) campus of buildings. The DC Operations Manager position will oversee and coordinate the daily warehousing activities, including receiving, put-away, picking, quality assurance, shipping and material handling equipment. Implement production, productivity, quality and customer service standards and achieve the appropriate level of resources to ensure daily operations are maintained. Manage staff, taking responsibility for recruitment, retention, training, planning, assigning and directing work.

What you will do in this role:

Functional, line management responsibilities include:
  • Manage at least one distribution building/operation and all of its assigned functions (LTL, Parcel, Receiving, Returns, etc.) within the Philadelphia Distribution Center campus
  • Manage day-to-day operations of warehouse, including: inbound freight and receiving function, returns, inventory control, outbound parcel and freight.
  • Lead a team of employees, leads and supervisors, providing strategic mentoring and guidance. Involved in driving workforce planning and scheduling that aligns with business requirements and seasonal peak staffing needs.
  • Effectively plan, staff, direct and coordinate activities to maintain efficient storage and flow of materials while maintaining control and accuracy of inventory assets. Check in and collaborate with Philadelphia DC Manager on problem solving resource, workflow and efficiency issues.
  • Lead focus on Almo Distribution Center safety culture
    • Design, implement and maintain effective internal schedules and controls to mitigate risks and provide for the movement of merchandise correctly, safely, without damage and on time.
    • Ensure training program in place for staff on safe loading and unloading methods of product from trucks, movement of product within DC and ensure adherence to all safety and accident procedures while on company premises or operating company vehicles or equipment.
  • Maintain strong culture of teamwork, strong recruiting and retention of talent to maintain quality and efficiency standards.
  • Monitor quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of product. Identify discrepancies, causes and enforce corrective measures.
  • Analyze data to monitor performance and productivity levels and plan improvements and solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What we look for in a candidate:
  • College degree or equivalent 7-10 years of related experience.
  • Highly capable and experienced in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) in routine work. Significant experience using AS400 necessary.

Additional skills, knowledge, and abilities:
  • Ability to read and comprehend semi-complex instructions, and correspondence. Ability to write semi-complex correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations to vendors, customers, and employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or conceptual form. Ability to deal with many tasks and issues simultaneously.

  • Communication Skills Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Reporting and analysis Understand and be accountable to report on actual vs. budget. Adjust resources when there is misalignment.
  • Prioritization and Deadline orientation Sense of urgency to meet priorities, deadlines and remedy customer issues.
