About this opportunity:

This position supports institutional marketing initiatives within Ball State University's central Office of Marketing and Communications. The Marketing Strategy team leads and stewards the university's brand development, institutional marketing strategy, and lead generation efforts, working in partnership with campus units to advance enrollment, reputation, and engagement goals.

As part of this team, the University Marketing Advisor contributes to the execution of marketing initiatives that reflect and reinforce the university's strategic direction. The role works within a team-based structure to coordinate projects, support campaign execution, and collaborate with internal partners to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and brand standards.

What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function:

Coordinate and execute marketing and communications projects in partnership with Senior Marketing Advisors who lead strategy and client relationships. Manage project workflows, support structured client intake, and project briefing processes, and ensure work is completed accurately, on time, and in alignment with university brand standards and institutional priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and execute marketing and communications projects across the division and with campus partners, from intake through completion.

  • Collaborate with Senior Marketing Advisors to support strategic initiatives and project execution.

  • Translate project direction into clear, actionable steps for internal creative and communications teams.

  • Support structured client intake, project briefing, and workflow processes.

  • Maintain clear, timely, and professional communication with campus partners and internal team members.

  • Ensure all work aligns with Ball State brand standards and institutional priorities.

  • Track project progress and follow through on assigned deliverables.

  • Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree by date of employment.

  • 2-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or project coordination
    OR
    completion of a graduate assistantship, internship, or advanced academic training in a related field with demonstrated project experience.

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a team-based or structured marketing environment.

  • Experience supporting (not leading) marketing or communications initiatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to:

    • take direction and apply feedback

    • learn quickly within established processes

    • manage multiple projects with attention to detail

    • communicate clearly and professionally with a variety of stakeholders

  • Candidates who demonstrate strong project experience through academic, internship, or early-career roles are encouraged to apply.

Work Location Expectations:

This position is based on Ball State's campus in Muncie, Indiana. The role requires a regular on-campus presence to support meetings, events, and collaboration with campus partners, with some flexible hybrid work permitted.

Candidates should be able to reliably participate in in-person activities and respond to time-sensitive needs that arise throughout the workday.
