The Procurement Manager - Additives is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for a portfolio of chemical additives used across Sherwin-Williams businesses. This role focuses on cost competitiveness, supply continuity, risk mitigation, and supplier performance, while partnering closely with technical, quality, regulatory, and commercial stakeholders.

The additives portfolio includes performance and formulation additives such as dispersants, rheology modifiers, defoamers, waxes, biocides, adhesion promoters, and specialty intermediates, many of which are technically complex and supplyconstrained.

This role is expected to operate independently within defined category strategies and to lead commercial negotiations, RFQs, and contract execution, while escalating strategic or highrisk issues as appropriate.

Additional Information

The travel for this position is 20%.

This position is also eligible for bonus and long-term incentive compensation awards based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.

This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141, Chicago Site O'Hare Plaza, 8725 W. Higgins Rd, Ste 100, Chicago, IL, 60631, and Minneapolis Site 1101 South 3rd Street Minneapolis, MN 55415.

Category & Sourcing Strategy

  • Execute category strategies for assigned additive subcategories in alignment with global procurement objectives.
  • Analyze market dynamics, feedstock drivers, supplier cost structures, and supply risks to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Support longerterm category roadmaps focused on dual sourcing, reformulation opportunities, and supplier rationalization.

Supplier Management & Negotiations

  • Lead commercial negotiations, RFQs, and contract renewals for assigned suppliers and materials.
  • Manage ongoing supplier performance related to cost, service, quality, and supply reliability.
  • Challenge and validate supplier price increases using market intelligence, cost models, and benchmarking.
  • Support supplier escalation and issue resolution in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Cost Management & Savings Delivery

  • Deliver cost savings through strategic sourcing, negotiation, specification optimization, contract compliance, and demand consolidation.
  • Track and report savings, price actions, and risk mitigation efforts using SherwinWilliams procurement tools.
  • Partner with finance and business teams to ensure savings are realized and sustained.

CrossFunctional Collaboration

  • Partner with R&D, Technical Service, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to ensure sourcing decisions support product performance and compliance.
  • Support qualification, reformulation, and changemanagement activities as required.
  • Act as the primary procurement contact for assigned business stakeholders.

Risk & Supply Continuity

  • Monitor supply market disruptions, force majeure events, and geopolitical or regulatory risks impacting the additives portfolio.
  • Support contingency planning, alternative sourcing, and inventory risk mitigation actions.
  • Proactively identify singlesource or constrained materials and develop mitigation plans.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have a bachelor's degree or higher
  • Must have at least five (5) years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience, preferably in chemicals, additives, specialty materials or finance
  • Must have work experience in leading supplier negotiations and managing complex commercial discussions
  • Must have work experience in cost modeling and market analysis
  • Must have work experience with influencing cross functional stakeholders and operate effectively in a matrixed organization

Preferred Qualification:

  • Have a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Chemistry, Engineer or Finance
  • Have at least eight (8) years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience, preferably in chemicals, additives, or specialty materials
  • Have experience sourcing chemical additives or raw materials in coatings, polymers, or related industries
  • Have experience with RFQ processes, contract structures, and supplier performance management
  • Have experience with operating in volatile market environments with supply and price uncertainty
  • Have experience working with distributors and direct manufacturers
