Job Description

Summary of Position

The Assistant Director of Student Accounts position is responsible for counseling students and families regarding all aspects of paying for college and overseeing and processing all student account related functions. This position provides processing support for specialized student account functions and manages collection efforts for inactive students, including the placing of accounts with external collection agencies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Counsel prospective and current students on all aspects of student accounts.
  • Coordinate the placement of delinquent tuition accounts with external collection agencies and monitor the effectiveness of the external collections program.
  • Oversee all administrative aspects of the Perkins Loan Program and ensure compliance with program regulations.
  • Oversee payment plans put in place for inactive students, manage communication efforts related to the plans, and turn inactive payment plan balance over to collections on a regular basis.
  • Oversee outreach and communication efforts prior to the start of each term's registration period.
  • Provide back-up to daily cash batch reconciliation.
  • Provide back-up for the Director of Student Accounts in generating monthly statements, reconciling online payment plans, and applying manual account adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and institutional regulation and policy, including PCI data security standards.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Present information regarding all aspects of student accounts to small and large groups, including new student orientation, outreach events, financial literacy events, early awareness events, etc.
  • Provide training on student accounts for the Student Financial Services team and other on-campus constituents.
  • Participate in local, regional, and national professional development opportunities.
  • Foster collaborative strategic relationships with on and off-campus constituents.
  • All other responsibilities as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Four (4) years of relevant professional experience counseling individuals and families regarding personal finances and/or financial aid.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday Platform Technology software.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Typical work environment is an office. Working at a desk for long periods of time.
  • Regular computer and phone use.
  • Long or irregular work hours, including occasional work during the evenings and/or weekends, during peak seasons.
  • Intense work environment including frequent interruptions; possibility of working with families and students in emotional situations.

Compensation & Benefits at Augsburg

  • The compensation range is $56,000 - $62,000, DOQ.
