The Projects Manager will manage the Project Management & Engineering function within Avient Protective Materials. They will provide improvements support and project management services and will oversee all capital and expense project support functions. They will oversee strategy for site improvements, utilities and sustainability. The Projects Manager will operate within the organizational structure to provide Engineering Support and oversight for Avient Protective Materials. This person will interact with all staff locally and globally and will be knowledgeable of the project and engineering systems and corporate requirements for APM Dyneema. They will lead a group of professionals and provide direction toward meeting departmental and business goals including providing support 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Essential Functions
Ensures all work is conducted in a safe and effective manner and all applicable procedures and policies are followed. Take action to correct unsafe acts, systems, and procedures. Abides by APM procedures/policies regarding security, inclusive of employee security agreements; use of non-disclosure agreements with outside parties; control of APM intellectual property limited to a "need to know" only basis; no unauthorized use of cell phones, cameras, computers or APM property; reporting security threats and incidents; proper control of APM property and keys. Provides leadership to the Projects function and facilitates teamwork within the department and across the division globally. Provides managerial communication and/or direction to the departments. Establishes and maintains an open line of communication with all departmental staff. Develop strategies and priorities for assigned area of responsibility that align with Manufacturing Plant & Lifetime Extension Plan (LTE), License to Operate (LTO) requirements, Supply & Demand planning and Sustainability Roadmap. Owner of Project work process for Avient Protective Materials Ensure proper implementations of hardware, software, and equipment upgrade projects related to automation and electrical systems support. Lead the Project team to implement approved equipment upgrade projects and equipment addition projects. Manage group to ensure projects stay within budget and time commitments. Ensure Engineering Documentation for each Project is properly generated and provided for archiving according to site SOP's and corporate work processes. Implement and coordinate resources across business units to achieve goals and objectives of multiple assigned projects within prescribed cost and time estimates. Provide overall project leadership to assigned staff, user department personnel, and external contractors / vendors to successfully complete assigned projects within estimated time and budget parameters. Lead project definition activities including identifying project goals and objectives, overall project feasibility and staff commitments. Work with outside vendors to formulate packaged software proposals and support agreements. Provide technical expertise, appropriate methodologies and tools aimed at improving the productivity of project implementation. Ensure Project Engineering activities comply with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, SOP's and other related documents and activities. Ensure Project Engineering activities meet Company guidelines and policies relating to quality, safety, housekeeping, and cost effectiveness are met. Manage large capital projects as required to meet company objectives including management of project professionals, budget and timing commitments and overall project scoping and completion for multiple simultaneous projects with independent valuations in excess of $1M each. Supervise and enforce the training, execution, and assessment of SHE requirements for direct reports. Comply with all job-related safety and training requirements in a timely manner. Manage performance of staff. Identify and address any performance issues. Provide training and opportunities for career development of staff. Projects or Special Assignments
Education and Experience
- MS in a technical field plus 5 years of relevant experience or BS in a technical field plus 7 years of relevant experience or AAS with 8 years of relevant experience or 9 years of relevant experience.
- Experience supervising employees - at least 5 years.
- Experience with Small and Large capital projects.
- Experience managing projects in excess of $1M - $5M.
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and use for tasks, meetings, and other organizational tools.
- Very skilled in use of PC and able to learn new software quickly.
- Able to coordinate team efforts and keep the group informed and organized.
- Ability to effectively interact with a variety of departments and resolve conflicts.
