Job Summary

The IT Security Analyst supports the university's governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) program with a primary focus on accessibility compliance, third-party risk management, and operational security support. The IT Security Analyst ensures the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of enterprise systems while adhering to established security policies and compliance standards. This position will also evaluate third-party vendor compliance, review accessibility documentation (such as VPATs), conduct risk-based assessments, and assist in managing institutional risk regarding software and technology acquisitions, collaborate with security and IT teams to mitigate identified risks, and supports vulnerability remediation efforts.

  • Reviews and analyzes Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) and Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) from vendors during the software procurement process.
  • Coordinates with the Technology Evaluation Group (TEG) to document approved and denied software.
  • Maintains current on emerging trends in IT security, ADA regulations, and vendor risk management.
  • Participates in third party assessments, reviews and works with other security team members and IT Administrators to mitigate risk.
  • Supports the IT security office in documenting policies, procedures, and guidelines for the university community.
  • Assists in reviewing vulnerability reports and coordinating with IT teams to remediate identified risks.
  • Supports security awareness training programs for employees to promote a culture of security (e.g., phishing simulations).
  • Assists in the execution of third-party risk assessments (TPRM) to evaluate vendor security and compliance postures.
  • Supports the maintenance of IT policies and procedures related to IT security.
  • Participates in internal audits to ensure business processes align with regulatory requirements.
  • Assists in the investigation of security alerts and participates in the incident response lifecycle (identification, containment, eradication, and recovery), as needed.
  • Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during University emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with two (2) years of experience in related field.


Departmental Requirements
  • Experience in IT compliance, legal analysis, or risk management.


Desired Qualifications
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or CAP (Certified Authorization Professional).
  • Experience reviewing contracts or legal terms regarding vendor compliance.
  • Basic understanding of IT risk management frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53,ISO) and regulatory compliance.
  • Understanding of FERPA, HIPAA, GLBA, and PCI.
