DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps maintain safety, accountability, and daily structure within a Community Corrections Center. You will monitor reentrant activities, support center operations, and ensure compliance with rules and procedures. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will perform the following duties:
- Safety Monitoring: Observe reentrant behavior, maintain logs, and conduct searches of individuals and areas
- Movement Control: Manage reentrant and visitor movement and maintain accurate sign-in and sign-out records
- Orientation Support: Provide new reentrant orientation and explain center policies, procedures, and expectations
- Testing Procedures: Administer breathalyzer and urinalysis tests and document results accurately
- Public Interaction: Provide information to visitors and respond to concerns with professionalism
- Operational Assistance: Support center inspections, maintain inventories, and assist new monitors as needed

- Full-time employment
- Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- Work hours will include different shifts or irregular hours.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,081.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Department of Corrections Training Academy in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to work in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
- This position requires shift work. You must be able to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
- One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include, but are not limited to: performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military)

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
