GENERAL SUMMARY:

The primary role of the Business Analyst (BA) is to ensure that business processes and supporting technology systems continue to meet the business project stakeholder's needs. This position is a key liaison between the technical IT staff that implements business process management technology (BPMT)-based solutions, and the line-of-business staff that performs the process work (manually or in conjunction with automated systems). The BA must be able to straddle the IT and business domains and communicate (or broker communications) between each side. This person is a hands-on worker who will capture business requirements, evaluate alternative, recommend solutions, and translate them into project plans, manage the projects to completion. The BA should also be able to drive the creation of current and future state process models as needed to help facilitate consensus on process improvements involving technology implementations. This position deals with the tactical, day-to-day aspects of issue resolution, discovering, validating, documenting and communicating business-related knowledge into technical process solutions that add stakeholder value, and then managing those technical solutions into business deliverables.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Provide a bridge role between Information Technology and the business. Acts as a business relationship manager, understanding all business processes and providing technology guidance to ensure maximum return on investment (ROI) for IT business strategy requirements.
  • Communicate and translate required business process capabilities, business requirements, and outcomes effectively between business areas and supporting departments (such as the IT organization).
  • Manage the agreed to technical solutions to meet business requirements throughout the entire system development lifecycle utilizing project management methodologies (Agile,Waterfall,etc.)
  • Facilitate meetings and ensure proper coordination between the IT organization and business process owners by defining conceptual and logical levels of detail in the business models.
  • Define the needed business cases with project team and process owner, defining business outcomes, including current baseline and future target metrics, such as leading and lagging indicators, and linking to strategic key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Collaborate with IT peers in enterprise architecture (EA), solution architecture and application development (AD), program and project management (PPM), business intelligence (BI), corporate performance management, and other disciplines regarding the common theme of business performance improvement.
  • Work within guidelines driven from enterprise architecture by the business process architect when determining the current "as is" state of a business process, and update current-state business process documentation as needed.
  • Work with the business process architect, process owner, executive sponsor, business subject matter experts and others as necessary to determine the future state of a specific business process.
  • Educate process stakeholders on how to identify and solve process challenges through the simulation of different scenarios, analysis of performance metrics and advanced optimization techniques.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:



  • B.S. degree (in computer science, engineering or business), with related business discipline experience. M.B.A. or other advanced degree is a plus.
  • Five years' experience as a business analyst managing IT projects efficiently and effectively to completion. Project Management skills or PMP course work and/or certification a plus.
  • Experience working on projects using a variety of business requirement gather techniques, and process redesign methods.
  • Track record of working on projects that delivered different types of business outcomes: revenue growth and customer satisfaction, for example, not just process efficiency or cost reduction.
  • Understanding the System Development Lifecycle and the ability to manage each phase of the lifecycle to completion.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to facilitate, lead meetings and document results.
  • Availability to travel (when appropriate).
