Tectonic is currently seeking a full-time, experienced Project Engineer with environmental engineering, investigation, and remediation design experience to work out of our Newburgh, NY or Millburn, NJ office.


This position offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside a team of licensed environmental professionals on a diverse range of challenging projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Support and manage all phases of environmental projects, including project initiation, planning, execution, tracking, invoicing, and deliverable preparation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure high-quality project execution and client service.
  • Lead project coordination meetings and maintain clear communication among project stakeholders.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, including reviewing technical work and providing guidance on project tasks and professional development.
  • Analyze environmental data, conduct technical evaluations and research, and prepare reports and other project deliverables for QA/QC review.
  • Compile project documentation and assist with regulatory reporting, compliance tracking, and client deliverables.
  • Maintain quality assurance standards and contribute to process improvements and best practices.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client relationship management.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • 6-10 years of relevant environmental engineering and project management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field required.
  • EIT certification strongly preferred.


Environmental Experience


  • Soil and groundwater sampling and field investigations.
  • Management and preparation of remedial investigation and remedial action reports in New York and New Jersey.
  • NJDEP and NYSDEC remedial investigation and remediation regulations and guidance.
  • Environmental data analysis and interpretation.
  • Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Environmental remediation and contaminated site management.
  • Removal and disposal of contaminated and hazardous soil and groundwater.
  • Engineering design, construction drawings, technical reports, and construction oversight/support.
  • SWPPP compliance, inspections, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • USACE, NJDEP, and NYSDEC permitting processes.


Project Management Experience


  • Managing project scope, schedules, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Coordinating subcontractors, purchase orders, and subcontracts.
  • Assigning, tracking, and reviewing project tasks and deliverables.
  • Managing field activities and technical staff.
  • Client communication and stakeholder coordination.
  • Project invoicing and financial management.


Additional Qualifications


  • Additional professional certifications, licenses, or specialized training are a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management/reporting software.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle for occasional travel to project sites and meetings.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is sometimes required to move around the job site and inspect, observe, move, operate, and/or transport documents, materials and/or field testing equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. Such operable equipment includes, but is not limited to, peristaltic sampling pumps, photoionization detectors, battery packs, and augering instruments. The employee is also sometimes required to traverse the job-site while recording information and must frequently position themselves appropriately to gain access to necessary testing materials and equipment and to perform tests near wells and on the ground. The employee must sometimes lift and/or move up to 27 lbs. The employee is sometimes working in outdoor weather conditions, including exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, biological hazards conditions and sometimes working in the office environment. The employee will also communicate with colleagues, supervisors and clients both orally and in writing through Corporate communication systems. The employee must also occasionally operate a computer and other related office machinery, such as printers, and fax machines. This position also requires the frequent operation of a motor-vehicle, which sometimes may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. PAY RANGE


Tectonic's goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitable across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate's work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.


Pay Range: $90,000 - $125,000 / Year
