What to Expect
As the Process Engineer, you will be responsible for process sustaining and continuous improvement on the Service Manufacturing production lines, building new HV batteries and electric motors for Tesla's service network. You will be responsible for applying lean manufacturing principles to monitor yield, fallout, and critical parameters and drive necessary process improvements. Daily work will be highly cooperative in nature with regularly interactions with Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Introduction, Quality Engineering, Equipment Engineering, and Production Operators - strong interpersonal skills are critical. You will place a significant focus on trouble shooting and root causing test failures and fallout, including data collection and rework process development. You will also overlap regularly with the remanufacturing operations of similar products to understand leading causes of field failures and prevent defects in production. The position will report to the engineering lead for the associated product within Service Manufacturing.
What You'll Do
- Lead
continuous improvement activities to drive improvements to critical KPIs: safety, quality, output, and cost - Establish
regular yield tracking, including data collection and Pareto charts for top failures; lead team meetings ton review and drive implementation of countermeasures to top issues - Establish
and monitor SPC for all critical process parameters and ensure process documentation is updated, clear, and comprehensive - Work
closely with New Product Introduction teams to trial and implement product changes and plan for sub - component obsolescence at suppliers - Work
closely with maintenance and equipment engineering to troubleshoot equipment issues and address production issues - Lead
NCM (non-conforming material) activities, including the documentation and troubleshooting of line fall out - Create
troubleshooting guides and document procedures for offline failure analysis of test failures and non-conformances - Design,
validate, and document rework procedures for non-conforming material - Work
with field quality and remanufacturing to monitor field reliability of finished products and drive necessary process improvements to reduce failures - Create
and maintain SOPs and process flow, make necessary updates for process and BoM changes
What You'll Bring
- Degree
in Engineering (preferred Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial) or equivalent relevant experience - 2+
years' experience in manufacturing, operations, or similar - Exposure
to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, and problem-solving tools and methodologies (A3, 8D, or similar) - Experience
with FMEAs and 8D and statistical process control (SPC) - Experience
with time study methodologies and industrial engineering basics and strong mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals - Working
experience with Python, SQL, and/or SolidWorks - Strong
verbal and written communication, ability to work in large teams and comfortable with ambiguity

Expected Compensation
- Associate Process Engineer - $75,600 - $113,400/annual salary
- Process Engineer - $93,600 - $140,400/annual salary
- Sr Process Engineer - $108,000 - $162,000/annual salary
+ cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
