As a Coating/Plating Technician, you'll have the responsibility of processing customer hardware in various types of electro-chemical plating tanks under the supervision and direction of department team lead. You'll be preparing parts and selecting the accurate coating application on critical aircraft parts.

What you'll do:

  • Set up racks and tanks for plating operations, including proper masking, wiring, and handling of customer hardware.

  • Process parts through chemical cleaning, stripping, plating, baking, and coating operations following router instructions and process specifications.

  • Perform surface preparation using glass bead blasting, sandblasting, degreasing, and wet honing techniques.

  • Apply knowledge of plating processes, tank chemistry, racking methods, and metal finishing disciplines to ensure quality results.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, overhaul manuals, repair procedures, process specifications, and other requirements.

  • Inspect parts before and after coating, utilize calibrated measuring tools, maintain traceability, and document process records accurately.

  • Identify and report defects or nonconformances, support cross-training initiatives, and ensure compliance with quality and process standards.

  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations

  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • 6 months or more of plating experience

  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs unassisted.

  • Ability to sit or stand for at least 50% of shift.

Desired Skills

  • Thorough working knowledge of metal finish disciplines.

  • Experience with dimensional inspection techniques and quality standards.

  • Previous experience working in aerospace, manufacturing or maintenance environments.

  • Basic blueprint reading skills.

  • Basic math skills - equivalent of 8th grade math or elementary algebra.

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate in English verbally and written.

  • Ability to consistently maintain high precision and quality standards in a demanding environment.

  • Ability to work in enclosed spaces.
