Department Summary The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures brings together a variety of disparate cultural and linguistic studies, both ancient and modern, into a vibrant interdisciplinary whole. In the NELC department, we make the past come alive. We make cultural studies of the Middle East relevant to undergraduate students and the greater community. Position Summary The SRA II NEX will conduct research for the development of forthcoming academic publications about Egyptian coffins and tombs using online databases and other resources such as photographic documentation (Infrared photography, D-stretch photographic analysis, and other photographic analysis) to analyze relevant academic publications, to compile and annotate bibliographies. The candidate must have excellent library, database and research skills and knowledge of the ancient Egyptian world. Knowledge of the bureaucratic processes at the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities are a plus. Arabic speaking and writing skills are also desired. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
