Shipping Specialist II ABOUT THE POSITION

The Facilities Management organization supports the maintenance and enhancement of Columbia Sportswear Company's world headquarters. Our services span space planning, campus maintenance, conference facilitation, shipping, and document services. We strive to create a clean, comfortable, productive, and safe environment so employees can do their best work.

The Shipping Specialist II provides shipping and receiving support across headquarters to ensure the timely, accurate, and efficient movement of goods. In this role, you'll operate with general direction, leveraging established processes and sound judgment to keep operations running smoothly. You'll collaborate across teams and with external partners to deliver a seamless shipping experience.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
  • Receive and distribute incoming goods, ensuring all packages are accurately logged, tracked, and delivered across campus locations
  • Maintain shipping documentation for tracking, billing, and record retention
  • Perform campus deliveries and support fleet care, including vehicle upkeep, inspections, and reporting maintenance needs
  • Package, palletize, and prepare shipments-standard and non-standard-according to carrier requirements
  • Process outbound shipments, selecting the most effective shipping method based on timing, cost, and destination
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, Certificates of Origin, and EEI filings
  • Partner with internal teams to support compliant international shipping practices
  • Monitor shipments end-to-end and resolve delivery issues quickly and effectively
  • Ensure compliance with lithium battery and hazardous materials shipping requirements
  • Support document retention processes, including coordinating Iron Mountain pickups
  • Manage shipping supply inventory, sourcing cost-effective solutions through vendor platforms
  • Stay current on shipping standards, tools, and best practices
  • Cross-train to support adjacent functions and provide team coverage as needed
YOU ARE
  • A clear, confident communicator who builds strong working relationships
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with a knack for juggling priorities
  • Calm under pressure and able to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
  • Self-directed, with the ability to follow processes and use judgment when needed
  • A proactive problem solver who takes ownership of outcomes
YOU HAVE
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of shipping and receiving experience
  • Experience with domestic and international shipping (UPS, FedEx, DHL, LTL carriers)
  • Familiarity with carrier systems and shipping documentation processes preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company insurability requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and operate material handling equipment and vehicles
JOB CONDITIONS
  • May require extended hours during peak periods
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and active shipping/receiving environments
  • Regular physical activity including standing, walking, lifting, and moving throughout the workday
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
