THE POSITION

As an Environmental Review Coordinator with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, you will be a part of our fast-moving effort to protect plants, wildlife and habitats across Pennsylvania. Each day brings new opportunities to solve problems, support partners and advocate for the protection for native wild plants in Pennsylvania. Your work will help guide conservation through tools such as the PA Conservation Explorer tool and ensure thoughtful review of major projects. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports statewide environmental review work by coordinating programs, overseeing review tools and guiding conservation activities. The role helps protect rare plants, strengthens partnerships and improves review processes across the state. As an Environmental Review Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:

  • Program Oversight: Coordinate statewide environmental review efforts and resolve issues with partner agencies
  • Tool Management: Support updates and maintenance of the PA Conservation Explorer system and screening tool
  • Content Coordination: Manage information for Natural Heritage Program web pages and coordinate updates with partners
  • Staff Supervision: Oversee contract environmental review staff within the Natural Heritage Section
  • Review Expertise: Provide botanical and ecological knowledge by completing environmental reviews when needed
  • Public Outreach: Deliver training, guidance and communication on the environmental review process and PACE tool

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Occasional travel, including some overnight trips
  • This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS)
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Wildlife Biologist 2 or Natural Resource Program Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience as a Forester (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of professional experience in management of plant, wildlife, or natural resources and a bachelor's degree in biology, botany, ecology, environmental science, forestry, natural resources management, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
