Physician Affiliate Group of New York, P.C. (PAGNY)for The Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) of New York City Health + Hospitals (H+H) is responsible for the delivery of medical care, mental health care, and discharge planning in the jail system. Approximately 25% of new admissions per year to the NYC jail system will receive care on the mental health service. This service strives to provide safe, holistic and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for the diverse range of mental health issues that face the population, from serious mental illness to the natural struggles that accompany incarceration. The service provides some of the most comprehensive and unique treatment modalities in the country, including specialty housing units for individuals with serious mental illness, a 24-hour on-call psychiatric service, robust creative arts programming, a strong DBT training program, clinics in each of the facilities, substance use treatment, integrated re- entry services, and relationships with multiple training institutions throughout the city.

General Overview:

Under directions of the Director of Operations, with broad latitude for independent judgement and Initiative, schedules staff within the correctional facilities or reassigns staff to ensure that vacancies are Filled. This position is responsible for tracking facility staffing and for relocating staff as needed to meet Demand. In addition, the Staff Scheduler shall be responsible for answering and logging all telephone Calls made to the Operations Office, directing such calls to the appropriate party (s) and paging CHS staff members as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Generates accurate schedules for medical and ancillary staff.

  • Distributes overtime assignments in an equitable manner.

  • Ensures that each facility is staffed correctly pursuant to the staffing matrix for each tour and day.

  • Confirms schedules with each facility and posts the schedules so that all facility staff can view them.

  • Enforces rules and scheduling policies.

  • Supports multiple facilities or parallel schedules.

  • Automatically reassigns staff and/or schedules temporary staff to provide appropriate coverage in the event of employee absences or increase in demand.

  • Answers phones, maintains sick call log and pages staff as needed.

  • Provides reports as needed.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Normal correctional health environment at facilities assigned

Job Hazards:

Schedule: Sun, Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat (6am to 2pm)

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • An Associate'sDegree is required; BA/BS preferred. Experience can be substituted for education.

  • Knowledge of scheduling systems utilized by healthcare facilities.

  • Excellent clerical, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of personal computers and data entry experience.

  • Maintain a staff typing speed of 40-45 wpm.
